Araihana Shiba (志波 lit. Wild Flower) is the Captain of the 13th Division, as well as the Son of Kukaku Shiba.

Appearance
Araihana is a tall young man with dark purple hair and black eyes. He wears a black hakama and hyori with a White Captain cloak. His right hand is wrapped in a black cloth with three bands strapping it down. He wears a large necklace with black beads along it.
Personality
Caring and strong, Araihana is similar to many members of the 13th Division. He believes, that even though he is in the lowest division, he can excell to great lengths. He has a dislike for Hollows, and had the 13th Squad given the task for Hollow Extermination. He has taken more after Kaien than any other family member.
Abilities
Swordsmanship Expert- His sword fighting skills are quite good, as he is a Captain. As the Head of Hollow Extermination, he must be able to hold his own against powerful Hollows. He teaches Swordsmanship at the Academy as well.
Kido Expert- He has shown some skills with Kido, using simple spells mostly. He seems to prefer Hado.
Shunpo Master- He has exceedigling high skills with Shunpo, moving at speeds that surpass the Lieutenant of the 2nd Division. He has often moved at speeds, unseen by his own Seated Officers.
Enhanced Strength- Araihana has shown to lift large amounts of weight, being able to pick up large amounts of rocks and such. It seems to come from his mother Kukaku.
Zanpakutō
Hiryū Setsudanki (飛龍切断機, Flying Dragon Guillotine): it is sealed as a katana with a blue handle and circular guard. The blade is fairly thin.

- Shikai: The release phrase is Let Loose (遍昭, henjō). Hiryuu Girochi becomes a large Zanbato, with a extenstion to part of the blade. The guard is thick and oval shaped with a long handle. The blade it thick, with the flat end being thicker than the bladed edge. From the sharp edge, there is an extension that reaches past the arm. Their are no known Shikai Abilities.
- Bankai: Not Yet Revealed
