Seijūrō Arakami Ōganosuke Kawahiru no Mae (河昼の前·煌臥之助·荒神·清十郎, Kawahiru no Mae Ōganosuke Arakami Seijūrō), often referred to as Seiji (政治, Seiji) by those that know him, is a male Sōzōshin with a direct powerful Kitsune lineage that's made a name for himself in both the Human World and the Soul Society, attracting many individuals of interest over the past few years. Conceived between the union of Seireitou Kawahiru — his biological father and the man that's infamously known as the "Shiroyasha" (白夜叉(シローやくしゃ), Shiroyasha; translated as "White Yaksha") throughout various worlds because of his exploits over much of his lifetime, unofficially making him a member of the nearly-extinct Kawahiru Clan, and an extremely powerful nine-tailed female Kitsune who's well-versed in the art of spellcasting, through a series of drunken mishaps on the former's part, he was abandoned at a young age and raised shortly after the latter's death in an orphanage somewhere in the Human World because of the chaotic state of the Reikai.

Though raised in a caring environment, he eventually fell into despair after experiencing the worst even in his lifetime — losing all those he held dear; however, such a tragic moment in his history led to the awakening of his latent spiritual talent, which he nurtured over the following years — isolating himself from the rest of society. It's known that he's encountered various spiritual entities, either learning from them in various usually unorthodox ways, or defeating them and assimilating their unique skills, methods, and techniques into his arsenal — slowly becoming a threat in his own right.

His cold and sardonic views of life had led him to become a mercenary for hire, becoming part of conflicts that threaten the lives of the innocent; it's because he considers himself, in his words, "a janitor that cleans the filth infecting society". Having ended the lives of many corrupt and evil beings, from those who were in a political position to beings that were worshiped and feared by many, he's gained the moniker of "Banshōgiri Kaitōyasha" (万障斬り灰刀夜叉, lit. "Creation-Slaying Ashen Blade Yaksha") — referring to ending his all of his targets — regardless of their ethnicity, social standing, power levels and everything in between with his signature sword and his hair which is likened to ash itself; this, ironically, creates a parallel between his father and himself, both of them viewed and called demons by those that dare oppose them. In addition, his godlike skill with the sword — which eventually earned him his status as a grandmaster, is the source of his other moniker, "Azure-Scaled Rakshasa Divinity" (紺鱗羅刹神, Konrin Rasetsugami) — each of his violent and precise swings leaving a brilliant azure streak, which is noted to be mesmerizing through an onlooker's perception and reminds one of a Dragon's hardened scales. Furthermore, due to his skillful use of his weapon and subjugation of the trapped essences within, including those he personally enslaved, controlling the might of a legion through a single blade, he's infamously known as "Seijūrō of the Thousand Evil Ghost Parade" (千邪霊行の清十郎, Senjareigyō no Seijūrō).

After discovering and gaining mastery over his Kitsune powers, Seijūrō traverses between the Reikai and the Human World, toppling those he considers "evil" while saving the lives of many and making a profit in the process; to this extent, he's considered to be an anti-hero of sorts, despite his skewed views and actions. In response to this revelation, Central 46 made him a part of the Jūsanseiza — giving him the constellation Hercules, one of the most famous demigods in mythology — well-known for his strength, heroism, and somewhat stubborn attitude, fitting Seijūrō perfectly as he shares such traits (to an extent), while ranking him as _ — classifying him as _. During his travels, he meets a variety of spiritually-aware beings that he would help in some way — either intentionally or by accident; gaining their respect and admiration, they subsequently form a small group of traveling mercenaries that would later be referred to as the Arakami Troupe — which would later gain fame throughout the spirit world for their successes on missions given to them.

During this time, he would later become the unofficial leader of the Yěshòu Mínbīng — the strongest militia in the kingdom, besting them in combat and earning their respect and undying loyalty, and later become the domain ruler of Anantarika — the harshest planetary-territory in the kingdom, and possibly throughout the Yuanren, becoming his somewhat-personal training grounds. In addition, he's discovered to be the current incarnation of the legendary Azure Dragon, thus an unofficial member of the Four Cardinal Spirit Beasts — a group of four warriors who are incarnations of the spirit beasts representing each of the four directions, specializing in a specific area of combat similar to the Yonkō — having intense rivalries with one another and helping each other out when deemed necessary.

Appearance[]

Seijūrō Arakami - Full Casual

Seijūrō's casual outfit when he's in public.

Seijūrō's general appearance is described as one that's closer to a civilian above any other, beguiling his status as both a mercenary and a warrior; this misconception is further enhanced by his physical age, which teeters between late adolescence and early adulthood. Due to this, people tend not to take him as seriously as he wants, which forces his hand at instances — causing him to show his true power, thus making others bend to his whims. Regardless, he notes that such misconceptions have its advantages, as it hides his true identity; this makes it harder for his enemies to find him, believing that he's an adult instead of a bratty teenager — most of whom have never gotten a good look at him overall. Even those he's allied with in both the past and the present wouldn't believe that the merciless mercenary who's able to kill those more powerful than him while drawing on great amounts of power to do so and the moody self-hating silver-haired teen are one in the same.

He's overt to have unusual traits, most notably his wavy silvery-white hair; it's believed that he's albino, but it stems from his status as a Sōzōshin with the Shiroyasha's blood running through his veins. It's also become the partial cause for his acute sensitivity towards the realm of spirits, something he slowly grew accustomed to with the mastery of his signature weapon and eventual growth of his spiritual talents, even though such a "gift" nearly drove him to the brink of committing suicide. He's noted to have exhibited other traits, but only when he's using his spiritual powers or the abilities of his signature weapon — one of which includes the color shift of his irises, going from the usual blue to a golden-yellow and gaining black sclera; this makes it appear as if he's possessed by an evil force or has hollowfied, despite confirming he's not a Vizard, which is partially true due to the nature of his powers. For him, this trait is fitting as it enhances the fear he instills into his targets — making it all the more believable that he's some sort of harbinger of death.

It's recognized that the tragic events of his past have let a deep scar on him — metaphorically-speaking, which serves as an aid for his personal desire to become stronger; this is further enhanced when he received his sword from an unknown benefactor, finally founding a way to silence the spirits that have been haunting him for quite a while since his awakening to the spiritual realm. For many years, he's trained both his body and his mind — making sure each balances out the other. Not only did he gain mastery over the art of reijutsu and an enhanced intellect, but his body has gained a certain amount of muscle tone that's more than suitable for combat, despite his young age; this is seen by his well-toned midsection, his buffed up and muscular arms, legs, and neck, and his improved back area. Nevertheless, such a tone tends to be hidden by his various articles of clothing, thus making him seem frail and scrawny to others and makes him an "easier target" for bullying and intimidation by those much larger than him. This presents itself as one of his advantages in most cases, as it allows him to put down such people with ease during fights — baffling not only his targets but the onlookers as well — most wondering how he can pull off such amazing feats with his "small frame". He's also noted to have a few scars covering his body, which notes the hard work he's put in improving himself overall; the noticeable scar is the one on his right eye — though it's minuscule and insignificant to the normal perception.

Despite possessing a scowl he wears on his face constantly — which puts distance between him and others, most likely due to him being affected by his past, he's noted to be quite handsome, having soft rugged features worthy of a man; it's been noted by Seijūrō that he may have inherited such traits from both of his parents — who were known to be outstandingly attractive in their own right. At times, he's usually seen with a blank or confused expression — stating his feelings towards certain events. He has the common height of someone his age and possesses a sturdy frame from all the training he's done — letting him stand the brunt of most offensive measures and keep on going, in comparison with his weak and waifish frame he had before the tragic incident when he was living blissfully in ignorance. Only in rare instances, does he smile; when that happens, it's noted to be very charming — enticing the individuals around him, making them have some sort of attraction to him. Somewhat of a comical note, he's noted to be a "well-endowed" individual by most older people and those of his age; combined with his attractiveness, this earns Seijūrō the comedic ire of his peers — something that he tends to be ignorant to.

Seijūrō Arakami - Full Mercenary

Seijūrō's mercenary outfit when he's about to enter combat or during his missions.

In lieu of his physical traits, his apparel.... doesn't really fit the bill; it's lackluster and doesn't make him stand out too much. For him, this is a good thing, yet a bad thing. The good aspect of it is that it helps him blend in with the crowd; the bad aspect is that it doesn't make him look "warrior material", but rather as some moody teen. While he may find this to be annoying at times, it tends to be for the best — allowing him to accomplish his given tasks without arousing suspicion from his enemies and allies alike. Though he has a variety of casual outfits he wears on occasions, he holds preference to two in particular — one for his missions and the other for when he's in public or going through his usual therapy sessions; despite this, both of them having very similar traits that they share, especially in terms of accessories (if any are usually found) and in color.

For the one that he wears in public, it consists of a light grey buttoned-up dress with a normal grey t-shirt underneath, a pair of light black denim jeans with three horizontal tears on the right kneecap, and a pair of sneakers; he's usually seen with his silver-colored pants chain on the left side of his jeans and wears three beaded-string bracelets on his right hand. He has a special necklace he wears that's made from an inexpensive material, noted to be his most prized possession as it's the last thing that reminds him of his mother, imbued with much of her power. Like his swords, he's never seen without it; speaking of which, he keeps all three of his sword in a round cylinder case strapped to his back while the red stone sword artifact in a separate pouch attached to it. Whenever people see the case, they think that he's an artist — a typical forethought considering that's what the case is usually used for — storing large poster drawings or things of a similar manner, unbeknownst to what's really hidden in there.

When he's on his mission, donning the identity of the "Banshōgiri Kaitōyasha" — there's a slight shift in his clothing, but nothing major — retaining the traits of normal civilian apparel. He wears a thick, yet insulated blood-red zip-up hoodie — something that's made from an extremely durable material, thus able to take the brunt of most attacks suffering little damage — providing some sort of adequate protection, a darker shade of his usual denim, and a pair of gray-colored high-top combat boots that's good for all-terrain — making it much easier to move in, thus suitable for combat. Instead of his usual pants chain, it's swapped out for his signature chain-shuriken; on the other hand, he's now seen with his signature katanas strapped and hanging on the opposite end of his pants by a small pair of chains — donned in an iaidō-style, which is part of his signature fighting style. In any given moment, he can unhook his blades from his side, letting him hold it and its sheath freely. Strapped to his opposite leg is a pouch containing his sword artifact which he can use and store freely simply by unbuttoning the top and removing/placing said artifact as if he was drawing one of his swords. The most noticeable aspect of this outfit is the oni mask that obscures the lower-half of his face; this is key to not only hiding his true identity but emphasizing his epithet that people refer to him by. It's black in color and known to be frowning, which helps compliment the scowl that Seijūrō always has on; like with most of his possessions, it's known to be very durable — capable of surviving insurmountable blows while suffering little damage. It has a special mechanism that muffles his voice, giving it a certain level of baritone and making it deeper than normal; this serves to further conceal his real identity while instilling fear into his enemies.

In short, while Seijūrō doesn't come off as the most approachable individual, he's not to be underestimated; looks can be deceiving, after all, something he proves on multiple occasions. Despite his hardened exterior, it truly masks the remnants of any feelings and doubts that he's still plagued by and sometimes succumbs to; this makes it harder for a person to perceive who he truly is — a moody teenager, a heartless killer, or a young man who's internally crying for help and solace.

Personality[]

"Well, aren't you just a pocket full of sunshine? Can you get any more depressing?"
"See, when you have all your loved ones and the people you know slaughtered in front of you by a homicidal maniac from an unknown terrorist organization, who's motives for such acts are unknown I mind you, and that causes you to go on the brink of insanity — turning you into some unstable little prick hell-bent on seeking vengeance, it does a shit ton to you. So yeah, in answer to your questions: No, I'm not and I don't think I can get any sadder than what you're seeing right now.
"
— Seijūrō's retort on his current state-of-mind to Zaishōmon, alluding to his gruesome past that had a severe effect on it.
Seijūrō Arakami - Personality - Silent and Serious

The Banshōgiri Kaitōyasha's signature serious and phlegmatic demeanor, a remnant of the person he once was, heavily influenced by the events of his past.

Embodying the concept of a solitary soul with a fervent sense of purpose and conviction, the actions and events Seijūrō took throughout his lifetime shaped him into the person he is in the present — one willing to progress through the chaotic reality commonly known as "life". Once was a pure, innocent and weak soul is now an entity who's spirit has hardened with the passage of time, rivaling that of his immense spiritual capabilities, thus is someone that no person should take lightly regardless of any differences between the two; a simple underestimation of his personality and skillset by appearance alone will leave one baffled and frightened to an extent when he reveals everything about his personage for the world to see. Thus, one can say he's an embodiment of the phrase: "Don't judge a book by its cover", if anything.

Originally a child of indifference towards the world around him — something that stayed with him even in his later years, Seijūrō has a calm, focused, and mild-mannered demeanor about him to the point that it can be hard at times to properly communicate with him at times — the slightest misstep of one's speech can be mistakenly seen as a form of provocation; however, he's not one who cares for the opinions of others, as they don't shape what he truly sees himself. Even so, such a trait stems as one of the many reasons he's been seen as an outcast from his peers and elders during his childhood; a popular opinion of most adults is that Seijūrōis very mature for his age. He's normally characterized by his "dead fish eyes" expression — most likely inherited from the paternal side of his family, which adds on to his indifference and becomes on of his key traits of his person; comically enough, it's one of the first things that people tend to point out upon meeting him, to which he gives a variety of responses for his current condition. He's also seen either have a blank expression, making it nearly impossible to read him, or frowning which stems from his beliefs that he doesn't deserve to be happy and destined to an eternity of solitude and torment for his former weakness and inability to save others. While typically a lone wolf, he has the innate desire to get along with those around him as he's very aware that it's impossible to get through life through one's sole efforts. Nevertheless, due to him spending much of his time with his mother before her untimely death, he has the inability to properly interact with others, thus appearing stiff in most cases whenever people approach him for whatever reason — thus is rather shy and introverted. Even in the present, this still holds true to certain extent, part of which stems from the events of the "Day of Black Harvest" — showing small signs of sociophobia, having gotten over most of it after obtaining and meliorating his spiritual talents. While he, at times, have trouble dealing with crowds and casually talking to strangers, he has no problem facing people he's familiar with, branded as one of his targets, or having some relation to his line of work.

He believes himself to be a burden to others, thus showing that he believes that his life has no self-worth, unironically calling himself a "bad luck charm" on various occasions, thus would solve problems without the reliance of outside intervention; he fears that those who willingly get involved with him will suffer in some way, a belief that's strengthened and almost solidified many years after the tragic incident as those who knew him and had helped him in some way had lost their lives. In this instance, he's ironically yet fittingly well-known of sacrificing his peace for the sake of others, causing him to commit "social suicide" which inevitably earns him the ire of those he's trying to help, realizing that he's purposely self-destructing in order to better others to some degree without thinking of the consequences; strangely enough, he refuses to let his efforts be called a "self-sacrifice" because his actions, according to him, are the only way he knows to resolve most problems concerning him. This coincides with the firm belief that nothing good happens to him, something that's feasible when using his past experiences as a basis as he often getting what he wants through deception and not being true to himself, thus consistently forces himself not to hope for something that is non-existent — claiming it as a "false reality" to which he desperately strays from at all costs. He desperately pushes others away using a variety of methods and tactics, from yelling and chiding them for getting involved to simply running away as far as possible — being branded as a coward in turn. This aspect, however, is quickly shattered by the likes of Zaishōmon, Kaede, Gōken and Sakurame who all openly admonish him for it — doing so out of their respect and loyalty towards him, which later blossomed into a perfectly healthy, very strong, and long-lasting friendships collectively. Quickly realizing his mistakes, and seeing in the hypocrisy of putting others at a distance upon remembering that he couldn't go through life alone, he slowly opened up to and accept the assistance of others; this is one of the many walls that he's placed around his heart being torn down by an outside influence, something that's no easy task. In lieu of this, he remains skeptical of help from those who are strangers to him, which stems from the remnants of his sociophobia, thus takes a substantial degree of caution when accepting their aid, relying on his intuition and understanding of the situation. Furthermore, still thinks of himself as a "bad luck charm", despite working with others in the past (albeit against his will), because he's aware of the danger he brings to others when they get entangled in his business, which is the reason why he initially refused to form groups or work in teams — preventing them from getting harmed and feeling guilty about it later.

Coldness | Infamous Wrath

Seijūrō Arakami - Personality - Coldness

Seijūrō's frigid gaze as he mercilessly looks down on his next target.

Rather cold, shrewd and callous, Seijūrō is a no-nonsense individual who's focused on the goal at hand above all else; this stems from him not wanting to lose anything that he values, causing him to spiral into a state where it nearly caused him to fear everything and nearly end his life. This is notably expressed through his frigid stare he gives others, new or old, to which many believe, and at times proport it to do a multitude of things such as "freezing the soul" and "perceiving one's innermost thoughts, exposing their true nature", further magnified whenever he dons his trademark mask. He's noted to take everyone seriously, and treats everything with such gravity, even if most don't do it in kind. Such seriousness can transform into a strong sense of hatred and ill will towards anything or anyone that dares harm what he holds dear — using all means to snuff out its existence. In such moments, he lives up to his reputation as the Banshōgiri Kaitōyasha — developing a psychotic, bloodthirsty, and vengeful persona the likes of which is capable of striking fear into the hearts of even the strongest of warriors. Matching vindictiveness and his strong desire to protect that which he cares about, derived from the crushing guilt and regret of unable to save those that were within his reach years prior, Seijūrō has developed strong machiavellianistic tendencies from which it was conceived the moment he found his life purpose; he's willing to use anybody in any way he can, so long as it meets his goals — something that the other members of the Troupe are well-aware of, and doesn't care for as he's known for exposing those he deems as "unpure" in life-threatening situations without their awareness or the consequences that follow. Also, he's been known to be a sadist — personified in his evil expressions and somewhat crazed grins, reveling in the suffering of others, specifically people that rub him the wrong way or who have crossed him; it's such that the trait rubs off on members of his own group, sans Lihua — the group's "humanitarian" because of her near-emotionless personality, who at times join in on inflicting pain and humiliation on Seijūrō's would-be victims. Such sadism affects his missions, as he's well known for giving them a slow and painful death, making them suffer in the same way they did to others, disguising it as a "lesson" of sorts. Fittingly enough, this falls in with his belief in the Hammurabi Code, specifically in the "eye for an eye" philosophy to which he personally recites, albeit modified to suit his fancy.

It's been indicated that Seijūrō doesn't partake in humor and has zero tolerance for the antics and comedic stunts & mannerisms of others, often nipping it in the bud upon sight, which further emphasizes his serious nature. It's due to this that people often call him a buzzkill and taunt him for it, which usually ends up with sword pointed at their throats or, ironically enough, being hit in a comedic fashion by Seijūrō himself — the most common victims of such violence being Sakurame, Gōken, Zaishōmon, and Danzo respectively. Like the infamous former 4th Division Captain and first titleholder of Kenpachi, Seijūrō can be frightening when upset or aggravated to his maxim — stemming from his Banshōgiri Kaitōyasha persona; with a few simple words in the most polite yet sinister tone he can muster, he can make others submit and cower in terror. This is often exaggerated by others, who rather be, in their words, "cursed by the gods a thousand times over than to invoke his [Seijūrō's] wrath." In addition, there's always a "demonic visage" appearing in the background whenever the man speaks in such a tone, further augmenting its severity. While often coming off as very pushy and demanding in his speech, he retains a refined and elegant tone unbefitting his somewhat gruff exterior — which randomly throws people off while simultaneously being entranced; Kaede and Lihua noted that his voice has a hypnotic lull to it that, like his frightening side, can compel others to do what he desires while making it as if it's of their own accord. To an extent, it also has a snarky and rather sarcastic tone to it that gives off the impression that he commonly looks down on others, when in actuality it's the opposite; this creates a contrast to the aforementioned, which when combined together makes others believe he has a high degree of hubris. In terms of his articulation, which is derived from not being able to talk to others properly because of his antisocial tendencies, he addresses strangers and people he despise with "kisama" (気様), which, like "temee" (テム), is an offensive form of "you", though still more formal; notwithstanding, he uses proper honorifics when addressing everyone, believing that respecting one's peers and elders are important unless they exude a rotten persona filled with nothing but malice and discontent.

"Hehehehehehehe...... These voices.... The voices of those that I once cared for, taken from me in the blink of any eye! They're calling.... They want, justice, retribution for their unwarranted deaths! They want the blood of my enemies! All I seek is a quite asylum, but they won't have that. Is it wrong of me to kill, to seek vengeance? Should I join them in the afterlife? Is life worth living without them being there? IS IT WRONG FOR ME TO LIVE AND FOR THEM TO DIE?!"
— Seijūrō during one of his periodic mental breakdowns.
Seijūrō Arakami - Personality - Instability

Seijūrō suffering from PTSD in times of contemplation or when faced with similar events, often having mental breakdowns and going into a cold sweat.

Perhaps one of the most crucial aspects of Seijūrō's personage is his mental state — which is known to be the foundation of his bloodthirsty and vengeful side, his analysis of his self-worth, and his somewhat skewed sense of good and evil while acting as the source of all his fears and doubts, causing him to primarily alienate himself from others sans those that he's developed a healthy relationship with over the past few years; to an extent, even his fighting style and thirst for knowledge and power are affected by his mentality to an extent — wanting to use all means to deliver his brand of "justice". It goes without saying that the tragic events he was forced to go through in his late teen years have caused deep mental scarring the likes of which he never fully recovered from; though he's slowly starting to cope with the reality that everything he once knew is now gone and nothing can be done to change it, it still doesn't change the fact such a scene of carnage will stay fresh in his mind every time he does his best to form a new bond with someone, albeit against his will to an extent due to the intervention of his comrades, or when he desperately tries to preserve the friendships and rivalries he's made from those that seek to take it away from him in some way. Seijūrō admits to currently having remnants of his old fears buried within him, along with various mental disorders that he couldn't completely recover from; it was hard for him to make new friends or even talk to people because he became a "schizo" — having periodic mental breakdowns, becoming a victim of PTSD, having periodic mood swings, and breaking into cold sweats every time he's in a situation where he's somehow reminded of that day, to the point where he becomes fully dysfunctional both physically and mentally. Such behavior underwent a great magnitude when he become spiritually aware, now hearing and seeing the souls of the deceased — and later being hunted like a wild animal by various spiritual creatures who wanted to consume his soul because of the vast amount of spiritual power in his possession, which many noted was constantly leaking and acted as a beacon making it easier for others to find him.

Though he may have gained confidence through the solace of his friends and allies, this only served as a temporary escape to which he fully acknowledges; even when he was tutored by various teachers — human, spiritual, and divine alike, and fought in many battles — putting his very life on the line, thus building some degree of mental fortitude to which he became famously known for, it still doesn't change the fact that such weaknesses are there and that only he can overcome them with the passage of time. Though he doesn't physically show it, replaced by a façade of a strong individual who's able to take charge of his life with an iron fist, only those who truly know him and spent time with him can see how much he's suffering on the inside, especially doing so for the sake of not worrying anyone and believing that suffering in silence is the best solution.

Seijūrō Arakami - Personality - Onguard

Formerly, when he's alone, the silver-haired mercenary always kept his guard up at all times — refusing to let anyone in for fear of being hurt once more; though this habit tends to persist at times, even to this day.

The loneliness he feels from dealing and desperately overcoming his mental illnesses for the greater good is rather crushing; Seijūrō admits that having his "guard up" at a constant was the only method he knew of to help ease the pain and get rid of the guilt that manifested after that day. However, he ceased such actions and began slowly communicating with his friends — realizing that there are times when becoming "too guarded" can aid in the problem's growth; though little, it was one of the first steps he took to becoming "better". However, every time when he's alone he always was seen crying, hurting himself, and praying for his comrades — asking them for their forgiveness, rather ironic coming from a person who previously didn't care for the opinions and judgments of others solely because it didn't define how he perceived himself and fully knowing that there were some who simply used him for their own benefit. Seijūrō confesses to his comrades and his therapist that he's more nocturnal — taking intervals of naps throughout the day because it's near impossible for him to sleep in the dark, inducing night terrors of such proportions due to the darkness of the night sky acting as one of the triggers for his PTSD, the genocide happening under the cover of darkness. Thus the "light of day" acts as a deterrent for the triggers and enshrouds him in a warmth that reminds him of the days he's spent with his mother, making it easier for him to have a sound peace of mind.

While others have attempted to use their powers to mitigate such a health issue, it only served as a transitory panacea; his powers seem to react to his mental stability and such terrifying flashbacks has caused them to produce destructive wavelengths that slowly breakdown and eventually nullify their effects entirely, putting them back to square one. Seijūrō commonly takes medication for his mental state and practices meditation when he's alone, both of which tends to work in his favor as the former was made through unique materials found only in the Reikai — thus is more potent than the medicine in the Human World, while the latter counts as a form of training, one where mental fitness is put to the test.

"It's said that when you tell a single lie over and over for a long period, people begin to accept it as a form of truth. The same can be said for behavior; a person can act in any way towards certain individuals. If done for a long period, they'll believe it to be who you really are. This is how one can get away with performing specific actions under the eyes of their peers with little suspicion. The oldest trick in the book if I had a say on it."
— Seijūrō philosophy on behavior.
Seijūrō Arakami - Personality - Acting

The boy playing the victim during an accident he intentionally caused to gain the sympathy and assistance of those that found him.

An underlying part of his entirety, albeit one he isn't really proud of, is his acting ability and the way he deceives others into believing whatever he says or does for his benefit; this is due to his promise of never becoming out-of-character because he may well become the very thing he hates above all else: a hypocrite. Humans are known liars and will do anything to get what they want, deception being the most prevalent. This is something that's been apparent to Seijūrō since childhood due to those that despise and alienated him started to suddenly act nice to him once his talents blossomed garnering the interests of many from outside the orphanage; as intuitive as he was, he knew that he was going to be used, which disgusted him, so, in turn, he would use them to his gain. He noted that behavior played a major role in falsifying perceptions, thus he "changed" the person everyone used to know him as into one everyone would steadily like over time — eventually working as he started to develop bonds and experience friendship for the first time, even though it backfired on him as he slowly forgot himself and started to accept it as a new reality. This even continued during his educational years, as he avoided drawing attention to himself while becoming someone that was looked up to by a few.

After the tragedy and suffering mental traumas and illnesses, his acting had taken a severe blow as he started to get lost in a sea of personalities he's created in order to achieve his ends; he was only able to regain his individuality once more through training his powers and reforge his soul and resolve, able to face the world once more. He still continues the charade of "lying" to others through personified deception — stemming from his machiavellianistic tendencies, embodying the personality best suited for the desired outcome in certain situations. This ranges from playing the victim to blend in with the crowd while seeking medical aid, despite having a hand in the events that occurred, to becoming a happy and upbeat person tends to look at the positive sides of life, to even a philosophical intellectual who dispenses advice concerning multiple areas — some of which he has little to no knowledge of. He's able to accomplish this feat because he's studied psychology through interaction for long periods, gaining insight to what a person wants. Since it becomes more believable the longer it's done, there have been times where Seijūrō has assumed roles that could last for weeks, if not months at a time, just so he could achieve his ends while not drawing suspicion from those around him. He notes that those that can see through his acting are "monsters in sheep's clothing", beings who are well-versed in the same acts as him, which he further notes as "fitting" because they would be able to recognize their kind easily. In an ironic sense of humor, Seijūrō once made a comment stating that he can become an actor if he wanted because of his ability to lie and easily assume roles to fit the situation.

"As long as they're happy, able to live life to the fullest and achieve what they can from this desecrated world, then I am too. For one that lives in the darkness, this is more than enough to make me move forward."
— Seijūrō happiness towards his comrades' success, amongst those he's helped in the past and will help in the near future.
Seijūrō Arakami - Personality - Happiness

Only in the rarest moments does he can smile for the sake of other's happiness or when he's accomplished something that's made a major impact.

Despite all of his faults and insecurities which make up the foundation of his entirety, Seijūrō surprisingly has other sides of himself that are mostly presented in front of those he trusts. It's said that life is but a long journey, and in that journey, new discoveries are made by a person to enhance their experience and aid in decisions that will affect them in the later future; as one of the myriad travelers of such a journey, Seijūrō has a plethora of other defining traits that make him unique and complete him as an individual — either assimilated from his peers or contrived on his own through experience, experimentation, and in certain instances — out of mere circumstance, or cultivated by others through intimacy or their advice and wisdom, the latter often using themselves as examples, with the passage of time.

In terms of his personal happiness, Seijūrō has rare moments when he can smile and appreciate the brighter sides of life despite his dour mentality — often reminding himself the reason for his long-term goals; nonetheless, these moments don't last long when he's by himself, as he's automatically reminded of the tragedy long before and starts to have contrition about his enjoyment of personal or shared luxuries. While finding solace in the presence of his comrades — one of the few "lights" that illuminate his never-ending "darkness", he tries his best at times to partake in their delights and enjoy moments where everyone can smile, thus preserving another precious memory where all of them are appreciating the blessing bestowed unto them, either by an outside force or through their efforts. In such moments of tranquility and delight, Seijūrō tends to recall his childhood prior to the life-changing moment, where he was content with his circumstances and looked towards the positive sides of the situation. He's also prone to gently smiling at the success of those he's either known or saved, believing that they will have a brighter future ahead of them despite running into some tribulations along the way; such a smile is noted to reassure a person when they're at their lowest — and at times, spiritually rejuvenates them, as it shows his belief in them becoming a better person, with Seijūrō proudly admitting that they can become a much better person than himself as they can, in his words, "walk proudly in the light even when they've been in the darkness at some point in their life, having the strength to emerge, persevere, and continue to move forward". The difference between this genuine smile shown in such moments and the "superficial smile" he displays when assuming the guise of another persona created in the spur of the moment is that the latter is often used to get what he wants, thus is often misinterpreted.

Often paired with his smile, aggressiveness, and a slew of his other quirks, he's noted to have a strange sense of pride; though he can be apologetic about some of his actions, despising them because of their cruel nature while recognizing their necessity in the grand scheme of things, he vehemently refuses to accept anything he considers pity or sympathy — reacting violently against those that show it towards him and those he cares about. In addition, he won't let anyone call those who picked to the best of their ability the choice that was most effective amongst their limited choices a victim. He feels that it was a disgrace that surpassed everything and was blasphemy against those who desperately tried to live. Those who do put such labels on such people tend to be humiliated in the worse way possible, thus forcing them to make the very same decisions — and by extension, undergo the same pain.

Seijūrō Arakami - Personality - Training Session

Seijūrō going under one of his intense training routines to improve his physical and martial might.

Most likely stemming from his Sōzōshin blood, Seijūrō has a penchant for battle and conflict; he revels in proving his power to others and harboring strong desire to stand at the top. It's for these reasons that he constantly trains his abilities at a constant to break his previously limitations, reaching plateaus obtained only by a few. It's through his desire to master his powers and that of his signature blades that he was able to reach the precipice of Grandmaster at such a young age, being well-versed in multiple areas — specifically, the sword and magic alike, the rest acting as mere outlets. He further states that his instincts allow him to combat only the strongest individuals, and those that openly challenge him knowing that they're much weaker than him are considered to be fools who don't know their limits; such people he tends to take swift care of using minimal amounts of power to match their meager levels, though through it all he remains rather serious and "sees" them as a "threat". He often reminisces on most of the battles he's fought up till now with fondness, as it helped develop his character and aided in gathering allies and power for himself. Despite having pride in his efforts, values, and levels of power — knowing that they can make some kind of difference in such a "hellish world", he remains humble to those who are more powerful, recognizing that there are others who are stronger than himself, but will openly challenge them should they threaten what he holds dear and will use every ounce of his being to snuff them out of existence.

When it comes to his sexuality, initially Seijūrō was rather indifferent and apathetic to such a trifling subject since it wasn't something of major concern; this continued throughout high school into his temporary state of depression and into his early days as a traveling mercenary. However, as he started to learn more about himself from different encounters with various entities from both the Human World and Reikai, he started to recognize the feelings he's always deep inside himself, plastered over by his superficial acting done out of necessity. It was when such feelings had surfaced that he started to explore them by doing research of different kinds, textual and hands-on, thus gaining a better understanding of what he desired. He noticed that his desirability was short-lived, as he didn't feel any type of strong attachments for various reasons — some of which were because of how he looked at himself; ergo, his feelings were basically equated to an "animal in heat" and from what he read, it was natural for one of his age. This started to slowly change over time as he formed his team and met with many people who would later become his allies and rivals to some extent. Seijūrō admitted that, as he went on more missions with the Troupe — risking his life for them and working in perfect unison, creating many combinations that led to their many victories, he started to get feelings for some of his teammates, specifically: Danzo, Sakurame, Bianca, Lihua, Zaishōmon, and Gōken. It's because they all had traits that he wishes that he has, thus such attraction can actually be envy; he doesn't admit his feelings for them, but it seems that Sakurame, Zaishōmon, and Gōken all caught on at some point, though kept it to themselves knowing their leader's unstable mental state. Although he was alright with his attractions with three of them because they were the opposite gender, he struggled with the remaining ones because they were all men and he didn't want a form of awkwardness to exist should they find out. Nevertheless, they reassured him that they will always be with him regardless of his actions and feelings about them, albeit at different intervals, further stating in the most subtle and oblique way possible that he should be honest with himself and indulge in his desires. As he's usually clueless about sex, despite all the research he's done, he would have someone help him — the person taking the lead and him following by example. Though not sexually active by nature, he does take interests in his carnal desires when the need "arises" — usually with the nearest person of those he has strong feelings for, and because of his somewhat sadistic thinking, inventing ways of seeing a person sexually suffering while trying to "get off on it", he can be seen as a pervert by those that know him — albeit in a comical sense.

Seijūrō has a known love for sweets — specifically donuts, something he often ate throughout his childhood and teen years; he's known to eat them by the dozen in the most unhealthy manner, and he comments that the confectionary treat has eased his troubles on various occasions, even during his state of depression. It's such that once stated that all he ate was donuts during that time, which caused him to gain much weight — which, thankfully, he easily lost during his training. While Seijūrō shares many of his things with others, donuts are one of the few luxuries he tends to be very selfish about, ironically; his love for this treat reaches a point where he would commonly steal it from others — either during purchase or when they're about to eat it, using his speed and reflexes to pilfer them, much to their chagrin. Most members of the Troupe stated that it's near impossible to eat donuts around him because of such an obsession and habit, thus does so in secret — using all measures to make sure he doesn't find out. He seems to enjoy other foods as well, mainly Eastern cuisine as its more dietary — Seijūrō no longer wanting to rapidly gain weight, though he does go out of his way to sample Western foods out of curiosity. While disliking bitter drinks, he's known to drink carbonated drinks, coffee, and various types of tea: green, chai, and oolong tea being personal favorites. He's commonly seen drinking the latter whenever possible because of his latest discovery of how they affect moods and physiology, rather perfect for him who's rather unstable. Though not often, he holds tea ceremonies — something garnering the interest of Fucanglong and Lihua and the adoration of both Kaede and Sakurame, both of whom used to do it in their spare time before joining the Troupe.

Seijūrō Arakami - Eastern Dishes

One of the many masterful dishes served by Seijūrō to company, considered to be "luxurious" according to those that eat it, much to his flustered pleasure.

Due to him being a self-sustaining individual with many talents, Seijūrō learned how to cook, clean, and perform other housework properly from a young age — which only improved as he got older; some of them he's gotten from his mother while others he's obtained through his merit. It's due to this that he's developed a certain degree of OCD — consistently cleaning the area he's in when not on a mission or when taking a breather, preferring "order" over "chaos". Since some of his teammates can be rather sloppy, he often chides them about such behavior to the point where he becomes overbearing. At times, he tends to act like the Troupe's personal maid, despite being their leader, doing all the cooking and cleaning. Due to his travels, he's picked up many cooking and cleaning techniques — some of which are unorthodox to others, making them believe he made it up on the spot; in addition, he's well-versed in medicine and first-aid, despite them not being his specialty — some of which comes from him knowing much about anatomy, botany, chemistry, and biology. Thus, he can come up with new healing methods on the fly using methods one doesn't really consider — lasting long enough for the injured to seek proper medical treatment. All of this made some people believes that he would be a good "house husband" should he lose his signature coldness and indifferent, lone wolf attitude.

On an interesting note, it seems that Seijūrō has a knack for gambling with the odds always in his favor — even though he doesn't normally partake in such an activity, and even admitted that he outright hates it because it tends to bring out the worst in people and ruins their lives in multiple ways. The only times he would participate in such games of chance is if he really needs the money, which is a rarity because of the vast sums he collects from his various missions — some of which would go to the Shambhalan government and others towards various charities in the Reikai, being one of their biggest donors. Seijūrō says that gambling is like an advanced form of mathematics, something he naturally excels in and that it's more about calculations than it is about luck, as many would believe; in addition, memorization plays a key role when it comes to certain games. When factoring in all the mathematical information involved with the activity, it's obvious that it's not for everyone and can only be mastered by the intellectuals and the well-prepared. To this end, Seijūrō has done countless mental algorithms and mastered many memorization tactics using both the information presented to him in the form of the game he's playing and back it with the mathematical information he's absorbed and implemented over the past few years, allowing him to come out on top every time. It's such that he recounted that he's never lost a single game, something he's proven true on countless occasions; from slot machines to chips and card tables, Seijūrō wins without fail to the point where most gambling places and casinos have outright banned him from the sheer terror of the boy causing their business to go into bankruptcy. This trend has caused rumors to spread around various parts of the Reikai, and to an extent — certain parts of the Human World, with many people giving him the epithet "Silver-Haired Devil's Advocate of Ebisu" (銀髪魔提唱者の恵比寿, Ebisu no Ginpatsu Mateishōsa), much to his chagrin. His so-called "luck" has caused him to be sought out by other gamblers at times, wanting to know his secrets for his consistent string of wins.

Seijūrō Arakami - Personality - Exchange

Seijūrō receiving information from "Kotsugai" about his next mission.....

As a leader first and a businessman second by way of his occupation as a mercenary, Seijūrō believes in two specific ideologies: the leader should always take responsibility for his subordinate's actions and the philosophy of Quid pro quo, "give and take". For one, Seijūrō believes that a sign of a good leader is the actions of their subordinate; rebellious and insubordination amongst the followers means that the leader lacks discipline and fortitude needed to keep them in line. On the other hand, the opposite is true — those capable of taking orders and carrying them out to the letter without question marks good discipline and shows that the leader is one that's well respected by those under them. Regardless, should a subordinate mess up in some regard, it's up to the leader to take responsibility and help mitigate the damage done. While normally following his orders, some members of the Troupe tend to be reckless, thus cause more damage than intended; in turn, Seijūrō chastises and punishes them before apologizing, and penalizes himself harshly as a personal lesson on where he went wrong. Seeing such self-mistreatment tends to worry the rest because of the extremities, thus apologizing and taking much time to reflect upon their actions and how it affected Seijūrō. Through such a system, his teammates become more aware of their position and what needs to be done.

The philosophy of "give and take" is rather common, being a key aspect of living; Seijūrō knows everyone can't gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. Thus, when professionally making deals with others, he makes sure they benefit in some way as he doesn't want to seem like a cheater in lieu of his personal goals being rather selfish. The philosophy is best exemplified with his teammates, and later, the people of Shambhala; with the former, he makes sure that he fulfills their individual wishes to the best of their ability, despite them following him out of their free will, and with the latter — he gives military coverage, acting as reserves in their army in exchange for setting up base. Unsurprisingly, such a philosophy extends to his families and allies, seen in the case of his biological father — Seireitou Kawahiru; in exchange for a harsh training regiment to prep him for the battle with The Coven, he offers free service of the Arakami Troupe at any given time. The binding agreements he makes are usually done through paper or some type of magical contract to ensure both parties are getting a fair deal; should one break their end of the bargain, the punishment inflicted is severe. However, there are times where he would outright refuse to hold his end of the bargin depending on the contents of the mission given to him or whatever trade he's involved with; as noted by Sakurame and Zaishōmon, whenever Seijūrō says "Eh, I don't want to", he gains a certain degree of obstinance that becomes unrivaled and annoying to the point where no amount of compensation can change his mind. If he refuses to do a job or perform any requested action for someone else for whatever reason, it's best for the opposite party to just forget they even bothered.

Lastly, Seijūrō has proven himself to be rather adventurous and adores making new discoveries and building up his experience; one of the reasons he became a mercenary is to travel, as staying in a single location can be rather monotonous. This love for adventure is backed up his claim that if he didn't travel, he wouldn't have met the people who changed his life in some way — for better or for worse, and he wouldn't have gained the skills needed to protect those he cherished. Though he doesn't enjoy the antics of his colleagues, he does enjoy venturing with them to different places. It also seems that he has some interest in archeology: discovering ruins, uncovering hidden mysteries, and even collecting artifacts; his teammates noted that the artifacts he appropriates either get donated to the Shambalan government or given to others as gifts. However, the ones he keeps are usually of Asian descent, especially if they're involving weaponry seen only in mythology. Such treasures prove to be the most valuable and often integrated into his weapon to bolster its already immense power, gaining new abilities in the process. Nonetheless, he's known to give some of them to his allies if they would be of any use to them — exemplified when he gave Kaede a powerful mirror artifact he found on one of his missions in hopes of bolstering her defensive capabilities when utilized properly.

"Even if it takes me for an eternity, even if I'm abandoned by the world, even if my body & soul are destroyed in the process... I will continue fighting for a better world, one where everyone can fight back against those that oppress them! No one should experience what I did on that day!"
— Seijūrō exuding ambitions, which are affected by the events that lead to such a declaration.

Seijūrō Arakami - Mother

Seijūrō's mother in her human form during the time she met Seireitou.

Born through the illicit union of the infamous Shiroyasha on one of his many drunken sexual exploits and a female Kitsune who once served the famed mythical entity, Tamamo-no-Mae — who's said to have been the mother of the famed Onmyōji, Abe no Seimei, Seijūrō grew up in an impoverished life devoid of many luxuries afforded by most kids in his generation. While details are unknown about how his parents formally met, but it's estimated that she was in one of the many host clubs in the red light district of the Seireitei around the same time as Seireitou himself. Through a series of inane yet pleasurable events, ending in the physical and financial decimation of the host club — leading to 14 arrests for drunken disorderliness and the owner nearly committing suicide from the outcome of the ordeal, never being able to live it down as it spread like wildfire the next day, the two escaped under the cover of darkness and copulated in one of the many love hotels populating said district. Since neither had any recollection of the night's events the day after, they immediately went their separate ways — vowing to never see one another again for quite understandable reasons. The Kitsune later discovered she was pregnant with Seireitou's child, and later gave birth to Seijūrō sometime later, wanting a chance to raise a child of her own; however, her body wasn't properly suited for child-rearing, thus ran into complications while birthing Seijūrō. In order to compensate, she had to use much of her powers to ensure that the baby wouldn't die. Thus, while there was no miscarriage, his mother's lifespan was greatly reduced and much of her power was transferred over to the baby.

Seijūrō's mother noted that he shared many traits with his biological father: from the silver hair to the dead-fish eyes; oddly enough, he was rather complacent for one that was born, as he was very calm even in the most turbulent of situations. Even though he grew up in the most impoverished areas of the Soul Society, he was satisfied so long as he was with his mother. As he grew older and his mother's time grew short, deciding that the Reikai was growing more and more chaotic with each rising threat, she traveled to the Human World and put Seijūrō up for adoption in a nearby orphanage located in the rural area of Tokyo, Japan; she left him the necklace, which he would later dub as a "good luck charm". Soon after, his mother died upon returning home — using the remainder of her powers to find the silver-haired child a place to call home, her body decaying into reishi almost immediately. Somehow sensing his mother's premature demise, Seijūrō had cried for the first time in his life.

Seijūrō Arakami - History - Friends

Seijūrō spending time with his newly-made friends.

Being raised in the orphanage, Seijūrō grew up as a loner — feared and despised by those around him, children and adults alike; this stemmed from his silvery hair, which was considered to be very unnatural, and the fact that he wasn't fazed by most things others feared. It's also due to him not knowing how to properly interact with others, as he's always with his mother, thus tend to perform unnecessary actions or make small mistakes that would get himself, and at times others in trouble. However, as he grew older, such fear and disapproval of his existence turned to envy as his talents in various areas blossomed: education, the arts, to even recreational tasks were no problem for Seijūrō — being second nature to his person; this is due to him being able to absorb, retain, and execute much of the information presented to him much faster than those around him. Being very aware of such an attitude towards him, he feigned acceptance but had secretly shown contempt for such a demeanor, as he (rightfully) thought that they would use him for their benefit and throw him away at their convenience. Through such a facade, he was finally able to make a few friends and was accepted by his older peers; caught up in the false kindness of those that got close to him, he decided that it no longer mattered if they were faking or not, just as long he had people he can spend time and casually converse with. It was a feeling that reminded him of the time that he spent with his deceased mother. This feeling was especially strong as his friends were also orphans, going through similar circumstances thus can understand their pain to a certain degree.

In his late teenage years, he got a job as a courier — working for the district's most well-known delivery company in order to gather funds; he realized that it was nearly time for him to leave, as the legal age was fast approaching and he would be ousted when it came per district's rules. After graduating high school fairly early, skipping grades years prior because of his consistent string of high scores, and gaining the necessary funds to assert his independence, Seijūrō left the place he once raised him and went out to explore the world around him. He regularly visited his former home to check up on his peers that either still inhabited there or made frequent visits like himself once they left, while doing some volunteer work with new orphans — as the place was sometimes short-handed with staff despite being more than well-funded. It's through these visits that he started to form real bonds with those that despised and feared him, forgiving those that once mistreated him while becoming more cheerful as a person. He even bonded with the new orphans who began to look up to him as an elder brother figure. It seemed things were going his way, but little did he know that this would be the prelude to the most life-changing event — one that would forever change him as a person.

Massacre | Killer

Seijūrō Arakami - History - Massacre

Seijūrō witnessing the death of his fellow orphans and classmates, quivering in fear.

Seijūrō's orphanage was one of many targets for an unknown religious terrorist group whose goals are yet to be known, but is hinted that it deals with the "betterment of humanity and its independence"; according to their accounts, the orphanage was the site of highly classified and forbidden experimentations that they disapproved of due to its heinous and "heretical" nature according to their doctrine, performed on the children by its staff – who were, in actuality, a group of scientists and occultists. The purpose behind them is to explore the supernatural side of reality, making others aware of the various species not present in the Human World, and give them the power to combat them should the need arise. They have a deep hand in the political underbelly of various countries aside from Japan, dating back to the events leading to World War I, having significant influence internationally as a result — stemming from the politicians and government official's desires to have the power to stay in their positions for as long as they, oppressing those that would dare oppose them.

The mass slaughter coined "Operation: Black Purge" (The word "Black" referring to things that were considered heretical and inhumane), began as the terrorist group invaded the orphanage and all other places nationwide that were affiliated with it to some extent, killing the staff and the orphans — with the latter being justified as "cleansing and liberation of the soul". Seijūrō witnessed in trepidation as his orphans, old and new, were slaughtered by the armed robbers; in order to avoid death's grip, he went into hiding in one of the many rooms that were accessible only to the staff, quivering in fear of being discovered — which, sadly, happened moments later by silver-haired man who claims to be the leader of the group and the organizer behind the incident, declaring it to be "justified by the very heavens". Pointing a gun to his head, he asked Seijūrō an important question that would resonate with him for the rest of his days: "Do you believe in God?" While initially dumbfounded by the intent behind said question, he answered in a profound and understandable way despite being fixated in a state of terror — which merely amused his would-be killer. Deciding to withdraw, having completed the task at hand, the assailant decided to let the boy live, wanting him to remember his answer and hopefully live his life by it.

As he stood amongst the wreckage of what he once new and bearing witness to the blood-stained corpses of those he cherished and grew up with, he suffered a mental breakdown of such extremities that it inadvertently awaken his latent spiritual powers and while simultaneously reconstructed all barriers he tore down for the sake of bonding with others. After being found by the Japan Self-Defense Forces and transported to a nearby military hospital, Seijūrō fell into a coma that lasted for months; in his comatose state, he began to hear the voices of the fallen, wanting retribution for their condemnation. Their voices echoed throughout his mentalscape like a heavy downpour to the point where it became too unbearable for him to stand. After his revival, being tested by the physicians multiple times, and subsequently discharged, Seijūrō began to develop multiple phobias — ranging from sociophobia and thanatophobia to xenophobia and agoraphobia, becoming fearful of everything and everyone around him. Such fears caused him to quit his current job, no longer having the mental fortitude to complete the tasks at hand and no longer wanting to burden his co-workers and boss who were ever so kind and nurturing to him, especially after the incident, and went into hiding. It's said that the nationwide incident would later be known as the "Day of Black Harvest".

Depression | Suicide

Seijūrō Arakami - History - Years of Depression

Seijūrō suffering from depression and PTSD during his teenage years.

In his self-seclusion, Seijūrō fell into a deep depression, plagued by the events of that horrid day; the near-death experience and the mass slaughtering of his former home caused him to develop an extremely complex form of Posttraumatic stress disorder, which is further enhanced by the awakening of spiritual capabilities. Spirits of various kinds began to flock to him, attracted by the large volumes of spiritual power he's inherited as if he was a type of spiritual beacon; it didn't help that he become exposed to supernatural activity from various races and attracted the attention of low-level Yōkai and Hollows — who sought to devour his being to ascend to greater heights of power. Every single day, Seijūrō lived in a constant state of fear and depression, desperately fighting off the malice of the spiritual world while clinging on to the last remnants of his humanity. However, it reached a point where he had enough and opted for the only way out: suicide.

After being nearly eaten by a Hollow, only for it to be executed by a passing Shinigami, Seijūrō tried to hang himself moments later in his own abode using a makeshift noose constructed from durable cloth, he had lying around. Though he nearly succeeded, he was saved by the spirits that were haunting him as they desired him to live on; the phantoms began to take on more of corporeal form, manifesting as individuals affected by the "Black Harvest". Through conversation, Seijūrō learned more about the intent behind the incident and became aware of the Reikai and its inhabitants while explaining the reason why they were attracted to him; as quick-witted as he was, he abandoned the desire for death in exchange for harnessing his powers while gathering more information concerning the spiritual realm. He knew it would be a long and arduous road, but it was worth it to find a new purpose in his life.

Over the next few years, Seijūrō diligently trained both his body and mind to handle his newfound powers with the assistance of the spirits surrounding him and the spiritual entities that he either watched from afar, studying their actions and habits and taking interests in the skills they've presented, or were willing to teach him for either a fee or favor of some sort or the kindness of their hearts, perceiving the teen's troubles and taking note of his spiritual power, which would become a threat if not properly reigned in. Through such excursions, he would discover and develop his talents for Reijustu, Kenjutsu, and the Martial Arts respectively — something that he inherited from his parents respectively. At the same time, realizing that it was important to stay grounded in the physical realm as to not completely lose touch with humankind, he started the uncommon practice of dojo storming — challenging various schools of different martial arts forms in hopes of assimilating certain aspects of their teachings and fighting methods, applying to his spiritual powers and turning it into something more practical. This would eventually earn him infamy in the martial arts world, as students (and sometimes masters) would seek him out and challenge him so they could put him in their place and prove that their school stands at the top. Though this is all for naught, as he would apply what he stole to quickly counter their techniques and subsequently defeat them; he would execute his spiritual powers against those he deemed "worthy", as he believed that not everyone was a true martial artist.

Seijūrō Arakami - History - Gift Receival

Seijūrō receiving his signature Asauchi, a symbol for his new path for a better world and harnessing his latent talents.

Eventually, he started to combat those that would naturally come after him, from Quincies, and Shinigami, and Fullbringers — wanting to recruit someone of his potential into their rankings to Arrancars, Menos-Level Hollows, Yōkai, and other malignant entities who still harbor the desire to consume his power for their own, despite having close calls as he often took risks in obtaining new skills and techniques while finding better uses to employ his spiritual powers. Even some Kami took an interest in the boy's spiritual development and often task their servants of bringing him to them so that they can properly tutor him and endow him with some of their abilities, something that only a select few throughout history who later become a part of the country's mythology. Through all of these experiences and encounters, Seijūrō would slowly regain some of his lost confidence and become more open — purging himself of his fears that prevented him from interacting with the world. Truly, it was the dawn of Seijūrō's development into one of the most powerful people of his time — one only a select few can easily oppose.

Around such time, Seijūrō received a mysterious package from an unknown benefactor from the Soul Society — hearing of the young man's growing fame and taking interest in his future development; while he correctly theorized that it derived from the Reikai from sensing the immense energies it emitted, comparing it to one of the many relics dating back to the golden age of the Kami, he questioned the reason for receiving such a precious item. Upon unraveling, he discovered a metallic casing with a stone slab inside; when touched, Seijūrō felt his spiritual power reacting to it which triggered a transformation, converting the slab into a hollow sword. Awe-stricken by this new development, the spirits that constantly surrounded him had suddenly vanished — much to his astonishment, being transferred into the blade's confines. Only by reading the note that was attached to the metallic case does he discover the true name of this vessel, its origins and how to properly utilize it to its utmost potential; from then on, does this blade becoming his signature tool to combat all forces of both the physical and spiritual worlds.

Seijūrō Arakami - History - Retribution

Seijūrō begins his goal of cleaning up the world's trash.

After much time, Seijūrō decides to interact with the world once more, using his funds to traverse all over — interacting with different cultures and coming in contact with various spirits hailing from different mythologies; for a couple of years, he was raised by one of the most experienced and infamous swordsmen in the world — the 15th Head of the Ōganosuke-ryu Niten Ichi-ryū School. After spending much time with the old man, learning his swordsmanship through excruciating and hellish training while forming a paternal bond with him, he inevitably had a bout to the death with him upon his request to see if he was worthy enough to inherit his school's name and see if he could truly master his techniques honed for many generations. Though reluctant at first, no longer wanting to lose those most precious to him, he understood after much self-reflection that this will be the world he's flung into after reminiscing his previous battles and harsh training regiments while remembering that terrible day and his lack of power, thus agreeing to have one final battle. Having lasted for three straight days, it evidently ended in the silver hair's victory, slaying the person who was like a father to him. Although saddened, his instructor told him to be happy as he was able to inherit his techniques and name, bringing pride to both of their swords; in his final breath, he wished Seijūrō the best of luck on his goals and promised that he'll always be with him in spirit, bringing the young man to tears. He later gave his late teacher a proper burial in on an island in which they trained, believing it to me most fitting as it was the start of it all. Soon after, in his exploration, he also discovered the various injustices done by people in positions of high power, indulging in their greed while taking pleasure in the suffering of the innocent. As their influence prevented anyone from opposing them, he decided that it was time for someone to deal with such issues as to not further affect the future of mankind than it already has. Using his refined skills and his signature weapon, Seijūrō started to slaughter those he viewed as "corrupt" and "immoral" — disregarding everything else about them; as he was disguised and moved under the cover of darkness, no one is able to pinpoint him or discover when the murders occurred. Eventually, this started to include beings from the Reikai or who were spiritually-aware and even the heavens themselves. So long as people were being abused and oppressed, Seijūrō would take action and slaughter them for the sake of peace and equality; while hailed as a hero by many, he's feared and viewed as a threat by those who've amassed power and commonly abused it for their gain, so much so that he was given his most well-known epithet, "Banshōgiri Kaitōyasha" (万障斬り灰刀夜叉, lit. "Creation-Slaying Ashen Blade Yaksha") — mowing down all that voluntarily walked the path of evil, showing no remorse towards their ignominious deaths as he gathers their essence into his blade amplifying its power to even greater heights, and later weaponizing it for his benefit.

Seijūrō Arakami - Yuanren Bestial Leadership

Seijūrō becoming the unofficial leader of the Yěshòu Mínbīng — the strongest militia in the Kingdom of Shambhala's army, after besting them in combat and earning their respect and undying loyalty; it's considered to be a legendary feat by its citizen, adding on to his fame.

Through such infamy and the realization that people will always be oppressed by others, regardless of the reason, he made it his life purpose to become a "janitor of the worlds" and getting rid of the "trash" that infested it; in the process, he became much colder as a person, using any means to accomplish his goal. Around this time, the teen unlocked and eventually mastered his Kitsune powers to their fullest, which allowed him to visit and traverse the Reikai. He continued his quest, traveling between the realms and saving many lives from death's cold grip. Eventually, he would become the student of Senzui Asahiya — who doubled as his spy and informant, meet the people that would later become part of the Arakami Troupe and eventually settle in Shambhala, becoming one of its honorary residents because of his affiliation with its Beast King; in addition, he had a legendary battle with members of the Yěshòu Mínbīng, the strongest militia in the kingdom's army, defeating them all in combat and becoming their unofficial leader — gaining their respect and loyalty. Following this, it was discovered that he was the reincarnation of the Azure Dragon, which according to Reikai lore, embodies the ideals of swordsmanship; it was then that he was introduced to the other incarnations of the Four Cardinal Spirit Beasts: Mandala Terusake of the White Tiger — representing Hakuda and the martial arts, Kannon Higa of the Black Turtle — representing movement and Hohō, and Fukumi Enomoto of the Vermilion Bird — representing the art of magic, Kidō and various forms of Reijutsu. Since then, the four had formed an intense rivalry to best each other and see who came out on top while remaining independent within their respective domains, only helping each other out when deemed necessary. Eventually, he would also come in contact with a few members of The Coven — branding them a threat to all of the Reikai's existence, thus preps himself in his fight against them while he continually performs missions on the behalf of his employers.

Equipment[]

Seijūrō Arakami - Chain Throwing Knives

Seijūrō about to use one of his myriad shurikens strapped to the chain of his belt, which serves as one of his long-range tactical weapons.

Chained Throwing Knives: Something that he had custom-made — using unique methods to craft them Seijūrō is always seen carrying around a set of shuriken strapped to the chain of his pants, detachable through a special magnetic mechanism on said chain; it serves as his primary offensive long-range weapon. He finds them to be very handy, as it allows him to stroke his targets from the distance while not letting them know of his position. Having been self-taught in wielding these small, dangerously sharp blades — most of which was done through witnessing other users' proficiency with such a weapon, copying their movements through eidetic memory, Devin has high amounts of skill in shurikenjutsu — proficient enough to control their trajectory at will by the position he launches them; this makes it possible to have multiple shuriken assault his target from multiple angles, making it almost impossible to block them all. They are known to be very responsive to his spiritual powers, their power and accuracy increase if infused with a small amount — making them all the more deadly.

These shuriken are made from a durable metal, thus can't be cut through or deflected easily; not only that, they are lightweight, thus able to travel through the air at incredible speeds — having no additional lag. These serves as factors for its easy usage. Though usually carrying a set, Seijūrō has some hidden underneath his hoodie — usable through a mechanism that allows for automatic summoning and/or fire, letting him catch his enemies off-guard. Though he tends to finish off his targets using his sword or his powers, he uses his shuriken to off opponents he deems either "weak" or "unworthy to die by his blade".

Seijūrō Arakami - Hidden Switchblade

Devin skillfully employing his switchblade he keeps on his person, which serves as a backup to his katana and throwing knives.

Hidden Switchblade: Another weapon at Seijūrō's disposal, it tends to be used either in minor circumstances — when he's either threatening or interrogating others, or when he's separated from his sword for any reason; in comparison to the rest of his weaponry, it's significantly more..... mundane. It has no unique properties whatsoever, being a plain switchblade knife; this doesn't stop it from being useful nonetheless. Like his shuriken, he usually keeps it hidden on his person — springing it on his adversaries the moment they think that he's unarmed; it should also be noted that it's not as fragile or as dull as the standard switchblade, being made from enhanced material so it's usable for longer periods.

As with most of his things on hand, it's very durable — being able to take the brunt of most attacks, suffering little damage, and the blade is incredibly sharp — able to cut through solid material with ease and pierce the flesh of its targets upon contact. Because it's a bladed object, it's very effective when used in conjunction with his swordsmanship — though not as powerful when such skills are used with an actual sword, especially one as powerful as his signature blade. Regardless, it serves as one of his most reliable assets; somewhat of a comical note, he's usually seen masterfully flipping the blade in and out — either when he's alone or when he's having a conversation with others. This tends to put others on edge, as they believe he will use it to mug them in some manner — although such is not the case; in other instances, people would think that he's some sort of emo or suicidal maniac — which is only complimented by his blank expression and the scar he has on his right eye. Apparently, he finds the activity to be very relaxing, much to the chagrin of others.

Weighted Clothing & Gear: While rather an archaic means of martial arts training, Seijūrō comments on the effectiveness of his weighted clothes and gear despite having strong doubts when initially introduced to the concept by Senzui; typically, normal clothing would equate easier movement, but doesn't really strengthen the body. However, through weighted clothing, it becomes possible to boost one's physical, and sometimes spiritual capabilities depending on how much pressure it imposes on the body. When Seijūrō was forced to wear such attire, he found that he couldn't move at all — needing to actively cycle spirit energy throughout their entire body in order to simply move, let alone fight. Nevertheless, it's through such intense training with his "new gifts" that the silver-haired man saw a vast increase in both overall capabilities. It's from then on that he's prone to wear such clothing on nearly every occasions; the weighted clothing is created by applying a unique form of Reijutsu that adds additional weight proportionate to the user's desires. When originally applied by Senzui, he added a monstrous amount which he found to be proportionate to his reluctant disciple's reserves of energy. Currently, Seijūrō has added on even more weight since then in order to properly train both his body and spirit to surpass his limits and ascend to greater heights; it doesn't extend to just his combat attire, but all outfits he wears, putting him in a "constant training state".

After Fucanglong's admission into the group, the Earth Dragon used his power over the land to make the gravity around Seijūrō much heavier than for his comrades — adding, even more, weight onto his person, including his gear. While showing signs of difficulty moving, he eventually gained a grasp on this new intensity in a matter of weeks through strict and near life-threatening training, thanks to his adaptability and high growth rate. Upon giving him exclusive use of Anantarika — one of the many smaller planetary territories that's a part of the Shambhala, where the gravitational force is increased on a being with a certain level of spiritual power times one hundred and there's various flora and fauna that's many times stronger and vicious than a Menos-level Hollow, making it a perfect training area in a multitude of ways, Seijūrō's weighted clothing increased yet again, but was able to power through it through the same type of training as prior; the man also notes that such training under a gargantuan amount of pressure has caused him to have more control of his physical stature, exhibited by his further defined muscular frame, and allowed him to become adjusted to areas with vastly large amounts of gravitation. Senzui estimates that the results of his current weighted training are rather unnatural for the average being, as Seijūrō's physical and spiritual powers are much greater than an advanced Captain or Espada-level opponent — all of which was gained through a short amount of time. When such clothing is taken off, Seijūrō notes that his body becomes much lighter and more flexible with all his parameters being increased by unknown positive factors; he only does so against very powerful opponents or when he wishes to end a conflict in a single go.

Seijūrō Arakami - Wakizashi

The wakizashi forged by Gōken for Seijūrō upon request, forming a daishō pair with Intetsukijin; it releases destructive energies that obliterate all that it touches.

Sesshōmaru Bakuga (殺生丸爆牙, lit. "Explosive Fang of Killing Perfection"): Some time after departing from his late swordsmanship mentor/father figure and during the formation of what would become the Arakami Troupe, Seijūrō made a personal request to Gōken to forge this powerful weapon as he wanted to carry out the will and teachings of his mentor and show that he's more than worthy enough to carry his name. According to Gōken, in order to make this specific blade according to his boss' specifications, he required specific materials that could only be found in the depths of the Reikai — which served no problem for Seijūrō as it fell in line with his missions, and it would take a total of seven weeks to fully forge it, part of which would require the future master's assistance as it needed the infusion of his spiritual powers and that of his other two blades. Nonetheless, upon completion, he boasted that the blade was one of his most powerful creations and has the highest grades amongst nearly all bladed weaponry by Human World standards — turning it into a meitō, a status only given to legendary weaponry or blades of the finest quality. The name of this weapon was given to it by Seijūrō, describing its overall purpose and alluding to the name of the blades formerly wielded by his teacher.

Appearing as a white ceremonial wakizashi with gold patterned edges on the hilt with bells hanging on the end, a golden tsuba with intricate designs, and having a very sharp edge, it's kept in its sheath and at his side at all time in between the Intetsukijin and Yōtetsu Habakiri. As the name would imply, Sesshōmaru Bakuga is a sword that embodies "destruction"; specifically, it acts as an outlet for the destructive energies contained within Intetsukijin. Each swing can release sparks or waves of devastating power, which can be fatal upon contact. This makes its existence similar to the Yōtetsu Habakiri, which constantly suppresses the blade's vicious aura with its holy one while bolstering the two seals placed on it. By itself, Sesshōmaru Bakuga is just an ordinary blade with extremely absurd cutting power because of the materials used to forge it; however, its true potential can only be brought forth when wielded alongside the Intetsukijin. In this sense, the two swords can be considered Seijūrō's daishō pair in which he applies his school's unique form of swordsmanship. The way he utilizes the blade is rather unorthodox for him, considering his somewhat aggressive sword style, but not unheard of in the world of ninjutsu; it serves as a test-run, estimating the strength of his opponents and formulating his movements in response. It's said that the only time he draws both of them together is when he faced with an opponent he can't beat under normal circumstances or when he's sworn to end a person's life by any and all means.

Seijūrō Arakami - Bakkoto

The newly-modified Bakkōtō in its inactive state along with its potential displayed during battle.

Zanbun Tengai (燦分天外, lit. "Luminescent Divide Beyond the Heavens"): Zanbun Tengai is one of the various Bakkōtō of the Kasumiōji Clan — albeit a prototypes, given to Seijūrō by Fukumi during their initial meeting after stealing it from her household before her eventual self-exile, fully knowing he can employ it in a more skillful manner because of his mastery over Zanjutsu and Kenjutsu alike. Originally taking the form of a plain Japanese hilt, it was later modified through the technical skills of Ulysses and the bladesmithing prowess of Gōken, resulting in its current appearance — purging itself of the malicious aspects associated with its kind, while staying to its basic organic composition. It takes the appearance of a long, black sword handle with green circular designs on the bottom half of the handle and a green line in the middle of those designs. When activated, it releases a blade of green energy, which hides part of the handle. According to Seijūrō's its purposely modified to resemble a Seele Schneider, as it was the easiest way to wield it while sticking closely to its original form, though its insides were organic, as seen by the yellow eye at the center of the organic muscle-esque tissue when one opens up the casing. Ulysses and Gōken stated that it's primary function reflects that of a Quincy's Spirit Weapon, being very malleable when its reishi structure is altered, thus is able to take on a variety of forms depending on how much reishi used; by this logic, it's considered to be the most adaptable of Seijūrō's sword set. While this does grant Seijūrō much flexibility inside and outside of battle, he mainly uses it as a sword to stick closely to his specialty; this is seen when he creates extra blades are undulating and semi-transparent, and similar to tentacles. When said extra blades are attached to a surface, they become invisible until they are triggered, in which case they become thin glowing lines which extend into blades — useful for surprise tactics. Since it mainly relies on spirit energy for functionality, it's able to combat weapons relying on the same substance with ease, breaking through them like a hot knife through soft butter; furthermore, he can apply his spirit techniques and skills through this Bakkōtō, amplifying their effects and power by various degrees depending on their original level. Of all the swords in his possession, this one's considered to be the least lethal, thus perfect for sparring and minor combat situations.

Important Relics and Artifacts[]

Seijūrō Arakami - Ancient Magatama Necklace

Seijūrō's "good luck charm" that he had since birth, a parting gift from his mother.

Yomotsu Magatani (黄泉勾玉, lit. "Curved Jewel of the Underworld"): An ancient decorative necklace that formerly belonged to his mother — obtaining it through unknown circumstances, it's considered to be one of the many ancient treasures hidden within the Yuanren; it's rumored to have been forged by a Kami sometime in the past, imbuing it with great amounts of power for an unknown purpose, but was hidden away shortly after its demise. Ironically, Seijūrō considers this to be his "good luck charm" — despite repudiating the concept of luck altogether; it's more appropriate to say that it acts as more of a memento if anything.

Seijūrō noted that he always felt his mother's presence within the necklace, thus the reason why he holds onto it so dearly — refusing to let it go for even a moment. Sometimes later, he unintentionally assimilated the vast powers it held into his being during one of his many training sessions to improve and master his spiritual powers, manifesting his Kitsune lineage in the form of a sudden transformation while simultaneously making him aware of his Sōzōshin heritage. This left the artifact completely drained of all of its power, becoming a husk of its former self. Regardless, Seijūrō still keeps it on his person at all times for sentimental reasons, sometimes making small prayers on it so that his mother may watch over him as he embarks on his missions and fulfills his life purpose.

Seijūrō Arakami - Asauchi Sheath

The decorative black sheath of Intetsukijin, having near indestructible properties and a variety of other abilities.

Intetsukijin's Sheath (陰鉄鬼神の鞘, Intetsukijin no Saya): Intetsukijin is a dangerous weapon that Seijūrō carries around because of the multiple energies of different beings ensnared within; such coalition of mixed energies can't be contained for too long, no matter how powerful the weapon. If left unchecked, it can have adverse effects on the user, the environment, and other elements. Thus, the Asauchi is accompanied by an equally powerful sheath that has the capabilities of keeping such energies in check at a constant.

A black sleek decorative sheath with three thin beige lines near the top end, it's said to have been forged from a tree possessing a unique type of bark, located within the depths of the most dangerous parts of the Yuanren; due to this, the sheath itself can be used as a weapon, as it possesses a myriad of unique abilities. Interestingly enough, Seijūrō once commented that it a distinct "holy feeling" to it, to which he didn't further elaborate; however, it can be inferred that such aura is most likely due to the material from which its derived and to act as a countermeasure to the various swirling energies of the blade. When combined with the immense power of the Amenotejikara beads, the two serve as an "absolute sheathe" — protecting both Seijūrō and others from the sword's vicious influence.

Seijūrō Arakami - Holy Prayer Beads Relic

The famed set of holy beads crafted by a deity; it's said to be able to keep the vast forces of an object in check.

Amenotejikara (天手力, lit. "Heavenly Hand Power"): Seijūrō's interests in procuring powerful ancient artifacts has led to him obtaining this unique set of prayer beads, which possess an incredible degree of divine power to it; modeled after the Buddhist prayer beads, they were created by an equally divine entity that once roamed the Reikai, exterminating those who could be a potential threat to it if left alone. Shortly after his death, the Amenotejikara was hidden away so that it could never fall into the wrong hands; it's unknown when the beads were found, but they had many owners over the past few generations, Seijūrō being the current one.

According to him, he took the beads from the previous owner — who had misused its power to bring harm to those that oppose him; luckily, said owner was also one of Seijūrō's assigned targets, doubling the spoils in his favor. Beautiful in coloration and shining like pearls reflecting sunlight, the Amenotejikara constantly emits a radiant aura from its being. When Seijūrō used his spiritual abilities to assess their capabilities, he was rather pleased as it had the power to help contain the ever-growing power of his sword, fully aware of its dangerous influence when left unchecked. Thus, despite the fact that the beads' power can be used in other ways, Seijūrō converts it to an additional layer of protection for his sword; when combined with the capabilities of Intetsukijin's sheath, the two serve as an "absolute sheathe". When the blade is drawn, the beads are usually tied around his arm or kept around his neck until its time for the sword to be sheathed once more.

Seijūrō Arakami - Ancient War God Stone Blade

The divine tool of the War God in its present form.

Kushiaramitama-no-Shinken (奇荒御魂の神剣, lit. "Divine Sword of the Wondrously Violent Spirit"): Another treasure derived from the deepest nether regions of the Reikai, the red sword-shaped stone is said to be a divine tool that's utilized by the Japanese God of War — Hachiman; in a sense, it can be considered to be a sacred regalia of sorts, albeit one of little power. In fact, upon discovery and usage Seijūrō pointed out the true purpose of such a treasure: the amplification of all spirit-based or spirit-infused weaponry; in the hands of one that's not in tune with the realm of spirits, it's just a hunk of red rock whose value is diminished to a mere trinket of unknown origins. However, when possessed by one of great spiritual power and control — blessed by the energies that make up the Reikai and all that inhabit it, the Kushiaramitama-no-Shinken becomes a weapon of great magnitude, capable of striking down those that oppose its wielder when used in the correct fashion. Though it has been passed down for many centuries, only a select few were capable of drawing out its true nature. Interestingly enough, it's rumored that Ōetsu Nimaiya — a member of the Royal Guard bearing the epithet "God of the Sword" (刀神, Tōshin), used this relic as the basis for creating the Zanpakutō used by the Shinigami.

Hachiman was a Kami that presided over war, thus it's tools are geared towards bloodshed and conquering. While shaped in the form of a sword, the War God's most commonly-used weapon, its energies allow the user to amplify all spirit-related weaponry in their possession; this causes an evolution of sorts that conjures up said weapon's hidden potential, which couldn't be achieved by any other means. Seijūrō commonly refers to such a phenomenon as the Oversoul Arts (霊武器融合増幅技術(オーバーソウ・アート), Ōbasōru Āto; lit. "Spirit Weapon Overlay Amplifying Technique") — the Kushiaramitama-no-Shinken and the selected weapon becoming one. He further emphasizes that this works because the Kushiaramitama-no-Shinken acts as both a foundation and a catalyst. Seijūrō later discovers that this relic can be used as a weapon by itself by infusing one's energy, thus taking on a new form, mainly due to the Kushiaramitama-no-Shinken itself being forged as a tool of war in the first place; the form it takes is dependent on the wielder's preference, but its potential tends to be maximized when in sword form. This treasure is something that's highly valued by many warriors who specialize in weaponry, thus is commonly sought after; while it becomes a boon for Seijūrō in various aspects, its paints a bigger target on him for those wishing to utilize its near-unlimited potential. This makes it one of his most heavily-guarded artifacts on his person, kept in a highly durable and very secure case strapped to his left thigh and sealed with a unique spell that's dispelled when it's about to be used.

Seijūrō Arakami - Divine Regalia Sword

The lustrous blessed sword with its previous wielder.

Yōtetsu Habakiri (陽鉄羽々斬, lit. "Holy Iron Slashing Wings"): Another relic under Seijūrō's possession that forms a pair with his signature sword; in fact, he expressed that he needed the sword's power to counteract his main one in the case the seals he placed on the Asauchi were to ever fail or should the sword fall into the wrong hands. The two swords are always seen with each other, with the Yōtetsu Habakiri always remaining undrawn but its divine power — which is discovered to be the collective essence of its previous wielders, still radiates reinforcing the double-layered seal of its counterpart. Its original name was, and sometimes currently referred to as, Amakanshō-no-Tachi (天干渉の太刀, lit. "Longsword of Divine Intervention"), but was later changed by its current master to better reflect its true purpose.

Seijūrō Arakami - Divine Regalia Sword Aura

The intense divine aura released from the divine armament whenever its powers are invoked.

According to legend, the sword was forged for the sole purpose of "cleansing all evils" — creation still inflicted by malicious actions of Amatsu-Mikaboshi's servants while its form was still trapped within the depths of its domain, the Soku-no-Kuni; in many religions and mythologies, such actions are commonly referred to as the "original sin" (albeit translated differently) and the reason for the existence of chaos in the world. Having been used by many since the Golder Age of the Kami, it's been passed down from generation to generation, who actively cleanse any "evil" they come across — eventually reaching the hands of Seijūrō via Fucanglong as a sign of their alliance and the dragon's membership into the group. Thus, it's more akin to a ceremonial tool used in Harae, if anything.

What gives this sword its great power is the utilization of a more refined variant of Konsō (魂葬, Soul Burial), making reference to its original name while partially explaining the blade's lustrous glow; to a degree, it also reflects the original purpose of the Zanpakutō. Essentially, as the sword was forged to destroy evil, it can slice through and effectively purify anything tainted with malice — healing the afflicted in the process; it affects the spiritual aspects of a being, rather than the physical, thus is unable to do any damage. There are a few exceptions, as it can affect malignant entities and those affiliated with the very nether regions of the Reikai. Interestingly enough, the sword is sentient to a degree — described to have a benevolent nature to match its overall purpose, thus pulsates when its needed to be drawn and allows Seijūrō to access areas that were deemed untraversable by normal means while giving him and his allies a unique form of protection so long as they're within its vicinity.

Seijūrō Arakami - Evil Dagger Regalia

Seijūrō receiving the Míngwáng Dagger from one of Fucanglong's advisors, believing that only he can tame its malicious power.

Míngwáng Dagger (冥王无穷刑具, Pinyin for "King of Hell's Eternal Punishment Tool"): An ancient eldritch and decorative weapon that, according to Fucanglong, originated from the deepest recesses of Hell — forged from the essence of a multitude of Togabito and Kushanāda; it's considered to be an ancient treasure in which most Kami had feared because of its supposed relationship with Izanami herself, a manifestation of her vengeance against her husband for his betrayal. However, it's true nature is a tool of punishment once used by the infamous Judge of Hell — Yanluo, used to painfully destroy entities and wicked souls with sins that can't be properly punished; its many uses has accumulated a large amount of evil Ki and other malicious types of energy — derived from the malice of the souls destroyed by its blade, which can easily corrupt all those that dare lay their hands on it. Originally sealed in the Dangai after the judge no longer had any use for it, the Kōryū had expunged it into one of the unmarked territories of the Yuanren until it was later discovered by Fucanglong and his followers; sensing the evil energies and wanting to contain it before it had any detrimental effects on the world he was trying to save, he used most of his powers to seal it away in one of his treasure boxes. Some millennia later, the weapon was given to Seijūrō by one of Fucanglong's advisors as both a sign of trust and knowing that only he can mitigate the evils contain within going by his suppression of Intetsukijin, which is nearly as malicious in nature.

According to Seijūrō, the Míngwáng Dagger can only be tamed when integrated into another weapon — preferably one of great power and having a holy nature; through this method, the evil energies can be diluted and easily tamed. As Intetsukijin is a weapon that has a medley of energies in its being from all the essences its assimilated over the generations, Seijūrō considered it to be a perfect vessel for the dagger's powers. On his command, Gōken successfully integrated the dagger into his boss's sword, resulting in a magnification of Intetsukijin's already vast abilities and a more powerful aura emanating from the blade — so much so that it nearly equaled the combined suppression powers of the Yōtetsu Habakiri's radiance, Amenotejikara's binding power, and the sheath of made specifically for said blade. The capabilities of the Míngwáng Dagger are seen through the usage of Intetsukijin's various abilities throughout different stages of the blade and in various transformations, Seijūrō goes through, but are all noted to be extremely dangerous nonetheless — making it harder on its current master to go all-out on most low and mid-level opponents in fear of causing a calamity.

Powers & Abilities[]

Despite all his personal inconveniences throughout the years, Seijūrō has built himself up to be one of the most powerful beings in all of the Reikai, his strength comparable to that of many Advanced Captain-class and, in certain instances Yonkō-level fighters; this is in part to his lineage as both a Sōzōshin and a Kitsune, while being the current incarnation of the Azure Dragon, the culmination of the two granting him unparalleled talents which manifested at a young age and further increased when he awakened his spiritual powers. His constant displays of strength, cunning, and a firm will have won him the respect of those around him while earning him many positions of power — further emphasizing his capabilities, some of which includes being a part of the Jūsanseiza because of the machinations of Central 46 — ranking him as _ — thus classifying him as _, the unofficial leader of the Yěshòu Mínbīng — the strongest militia in Shambhala, the domain ruler of Anantarika — a territory well-known for its predatory wildlife and hazardous terrain, which can instantly subdue any being foolish enough to challenge it unprepared, declared the strongest of the Four Cardinal Spirit Beasts in lieu of all of them having mastered their combat specialities that make them nearly unrivalled, and the founder and current leader of the strongest mercenary organization known to the Reikai and Human World alike. Furthermore, his overall power and infamy are so considerable that his name alone is enough to induce terror in those whom would be considered his enemy. Interestingly enough, since most of his missions usually involve the battlefields and acting as a bodyguard to various individuals, he's labeled as a "Black Ship" (黒船, Kurofune) — a terminology used to describe those who can hold sway over a battle with their mere presence, to point of securing an automatic victory for whomever they've sided with, thus making him an invaluable member of any militia.

Seijūrō Arakami - Reiryoku Power

Seijūrō unleashing his spiritual power in the form of a silvery destructive pillar.

Unfathomable Spiritual Power: One of the two main foundations of his skills and talents, Seijūrō has been blessed with ample amounts of spiritual energy due to his Sōzōshin and Kitsune heritages while being the current incarnation of the Azure Dragon; in fact, of the four members of the Four Cardinal Spirit Beasts and members of the Arakami Troupe, Seijūrō has the largest reserves — which only increases over time as he gains new abilities and continually trains for prolonged periods, as evident during his first time in Anantarika, shortly after completing his martial arts and spiritual training with Senzui Asahiya, and later Fucanglong; however, it should be noted the environmental conditions and the gravitational effects of the territory had an astounding effect on his reserves, helping Seijūrō to manage and further increase it by exponential factors, being one of the various benefits it had to offer. Originally when he awakened his spiritual powers after the "Day of Black Harvest", he couldn't control it and it acted as a beacon for spiritual beings — flocking to him in great number and putting his life in constant danger due to their desire to consume him to become more powerful. However, as he strengthened his resolved and opted in mastering his newfound powers in every way possible — his vast amounts of spiritual energy became his boon rather than a bane, serving him in situations where he needed to master a new spiritual technique he comes into possession of, either if it was learned or taken from another individual; genuinely, it's because of his abnormally large reserves that he was able to create and employ his unique form of Reijutsu while mastering the abilities of his signature sword, Intetsukijin — both of which have the exact same ability, soul manipulation, making it easier for Seijūrō to harness both of them within a short period. It should also be noted that due to such reserves that Seijūrō is able to perform many of his unique Reijutsu spells and Asauchi techniques while still having much left over to access his various transformations.

Seijūrō Arakami - Kitsune Tail Usage

An injured Seijūrō manifesting his spiritual power as Kitsune tails, acting as physical extensions of his body.

In the face of many powerful adversaries, they all take notice of Seijūrō's volumes of spiritual power, with some saying that it's quite unnatural for one of his age to possess; this compliments the feeling it gives off, as it usually tied with his emotional state — rather fitting given Seijūrō's penchant for being very moody, thus having a variety of effects. Normally, when emitted, his spiritual power manifests as a silvery mystical shroud that blankets everything within a certain radius, creating the illusion of an aurora borealis and stifling anyone in the area who's unfortunately deemed as his enemy, but can change color at any given time to match his given emotions; this effect stays true when he's under the influence of a powerful essence residing in his blade, wishing to lend the young man their abilities, or accessing certain parts of his soul. Through fine-tuning, the shape of his spiritual power can physically change, such as when it manifests as either a set nine fox tails or the head of an asura-like being — both of which can act as agents for his spiritual capabilities or used as intimidation tactics. Matching his destructive tendencies and his cold, isolated personage — on a whim, Seijūrō can destroy everything his spiritual energy touches without question and create a feeling of bleakness and despair so great that it can psychologically destroy anyone exposed to it for a prolonged period. Upon inhabiting the Yuanren and coming in contact with the natural energies of the dimension, Seijūrō and his allies noticed that their powers underwent a slight change with Fucanglong pointing out that it's to better adjust to the environment that will soon be their home base. In terms of the silver-haired man, he found that his spiritual energy started to tap into the essence of the Azure Dragon, giving him dominion over the sky and heavenly bodies; to an extent, Seijūrō can induce weather phenomena rivaling Ryōma Yatsunishi's evolved Zanpakutō in its Shikai state — the latter of whom noted to be a rather impressive feat.

Seijūrō Arakami - Influenced Spiritual Power

Seijūrō's spiritual power while under the influence of another spirit or when employing the abilities of an opponent.

Perhaps one of the most notable aspects of Seijūrō's spiritual power is its relation to souls; due to his mastery and prolonged use of Intetsukijin's ability of soul manipulation, Seijūrō has gained the exact properties of his weapon — using his spiritual power to influence the souls and essence of everything around him. In a similar manner to a Quincy's method of enslaving reishi, Seijūrō can forcibly take control of all spiritual particles and essences within a vicinity — making them extensions of his own body; through such a method, he's able to access a slew of abilities and powers that are not in his possession and efficiently utilize them as if it were his own from the beginning. For example, Seijūrō can employ the abilities of a Hollow or an Arrancar by simply taking control of their reishi composition, all the while denying them access to it for a set period. To a similar extent, he can also apply the powers of various deities to himself through such method, as Intetsukijin has assimilated the powers of various Kami and Buddhas over the course of its existence. Interestingly enough, it's been proven that with every essence assimilated by the blade, its master's powers continuously grows to equal its own; the amount is dependent on the power of the spiritual essence it takes in — weaker essences means small amounts of power is granted, while more powerful essences means greater power is gained. By this logic, so long as Seijūrō continually absorbs the essence of those he defeats with Intetsukijin, his spiritual reserves can reach a point where it becomes unequaled — towering over the strongest the Reikai and the Human World has to offer.

Seijūrō Arakami - Reiryoku Jiseiryu

Seijūrō's refinement of his internal energies through his mastery of the Jiseiryū.

  • Jiseiryū (自制流, Self-Control Method): A technique that's a staple in Seijūrō's arsenal, it's considered to be another foundation for his impressive control of his spiritual energy — a "foundation of a foundation", if you will. This was granted to him through Senzui's tutelage, exorcised through constant battles and missions, and later refined under the teachings of Fucanglong, the spirit of Intetsukijin, and lastly Seireitou — reaching its highest point possible. The Jiseiryū can be summed up as the "exercising of one's spiritual power through their body", derived from the various principles of Hakuda — which focuses on the unification of the body, mind, and spirit, releasing great amounts of power with each strike while forming a connection between individuals. Seijūrō constantly stresses the importance of this technique to him, stating that without it, he couldn't possibly be able to contain his immense levels of his ever-growing spiritual energy, which would've been the death of him at an earlier point in his life, and he wouldn't have been able to master an arsenal of spiritual techniques in such a short period. Like most Shinigami and Hakuda practitioners, his usage of the technique is rather fundamental, yet effective; Seijūrō mainly uses the Jiseiryū to help "expand his soul" to contain his power, circumvent it properly throughout his body without leakage, and separate certain aspects of his soul from each other to earn easier passage to their qualities via his transformations; such a foundation allows the silver-haired man to flawlessly employ various phenomena dealing with the soul and spiritual energy. Even when accessing his unique style of Reijutsu which deals with the implementation of souls to invoke the powers of creation, the Jiseiryū is key — serving as a regulator to how much foreign spiritual energy can enter his body at a time, while evicting negative ailments that might come from dealing with souls that are either too powerful to handle or filled with malicious intent. To an extent, it serves as a basis for much of his Zanjutsu and Kenjutsu, specifically in his stances and the various uses of his sword. Seijūrō is considered to be one of the few masters of the technique through constant usage, thus able to control himself to the highest extent possible.
Seijūrō Arakami - Reiryoku Power Control

The environment in which Seijūrō is fighting in being decimated from the sheer pressure of his power, blowing back an opponent in the process.

Seijūrō Arakami - Disintegration By Spiritual Power

A group of lesser Yōkai obliterated from the sheer exposure of Seijūrō's power, which is seen from miles away by an onlooker.

  • Lethal Reiatsu Embodiment: As mentioned before, the concept of "destruction" is closely linked with his destructive demeanor; this is seen whenever he exerts his spiritual power, destroying everything around Seijūrō that he deems to be a target. One can only why such a thing would occur from mere energy, to only discover that it in actuality, it comes from his reiatsu — the physical aspects of his spiritual power. Thanks to his given mastery of the Jiseiryū, Seijūrō can apply such force to an extent where it can easily serve as an offense all on its own, using it to dispatch of obstacles or individuals he deems as "weak". This is further refined under Seireitou's tutelage, teaching the young man various Hakuda principles linked with reiatsu; with a simple glare — Seijūrō can release concussive blasts that tear through everything within his peripheral. With the simplest motions — either through his speed, martial arts, or kenjutsu, he can unleash devastating shockwaves that easily destroy the very earth underneath him and rouse the very forces of nature in the most catastrophic way possible, turning once lush greeneries into desolated wastelands devoid of life. When such reiatsu is employed alongside the various essences of Intetsukijin, he's able to project various images onto his opponent; one of great power can easily lose their composure when looking upon Seijūrō's being, seeing visages of various demons, gods, buddhas, and other spiritual entities of considerable power. It's said that those that feel his pressure are succumbed to an intense wave of emotion, rousing the chaos within and slowly destroying various aspects of their being — physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually; it was originally indiscriminate, affecting even his allies, but he soon reined in such an aspect and turned it into another weapon at his disposal. Members of the Arakami Troupe, and later various individuals in the Yuanren find it difficult to properly combat Seijūrō due to him utilizing his spiritual pressure and energy as a pre-emptive two-pronged attack — later dubbed as the "Silver Death" (銀死, Ginshi), by members of the Eight Bestial Immortals and of the Four Cardinal Spirit Beasts; in the first wave, his reiatsu acts a deterrent — instilling doubt and confusion within a person's consciousness through exposure, which is normally effective to prevent further resistance on the opposition's part. Should that fail, in the second wave, his exerted spiritual power instantly tears way at the surroundings while destroying those it comes in contact with — regardless of the wards and charms they may have on their person, serving as a one-hit kill of sorts. It's a rarity for one to survive such a coordinated assault, and those that do are either extremely powerful or just lucky. Nevertheless, one will find themselves at the mercy of the Banshōgiri Kaitōyasha's pressure, regardless of the strength or willpower, something which holds especially true to those he deems as an enemy or a target of his wrath.
Seijūrō Arakami - Yoryoku

Seijūrō flaring up large reserves of Yōryoku from his person, drawing on the negative aspects of his soul and enhanced through Intetsukijin's influence.

Potent Yōryoku Manifestation: As a Sōzōshin, Seijūrō would naturally have Chaos imbued in his soul, acting as the driving force behind much of his negativity; according to Intetsukijin, the chaos within Seijūrō is very potent — correlating to his destructive behavior and his somewhat sadistic and twisted mindset, and noted that was very noticeable the day he started to wield the sword; he further hypothesizes that such chaos was not really noticeable throughout his childhood, only to make itself known when he was suffering from depression and almost committed suicide. It increased as he started to kill those he deemed evil and was constantly exposed to the "underbelly" of society: war, corruption, death, illness, famine, etc. Even in his fighting, such chaos presents itself — Seijūrō taking an aggressive stance, overwhelming his opponents through sheer force while instilling fear into them as much as possible. As the chaos within Seijūrō grew, it started to seep into his spiritual power — momentarily fusing with it, creating the dangerous substance known as "Yōryoku" (妖力, lit. "Dark/Evil Power"). Initially, such energies manifested when he was under extreme duress or when he was exposed to an evil of a higher degree; however, after gaining control over Intetsukijin, which also used the substance because of the potent degrees of malice lying within, corrupting anyone with a weak will, and he started to practice martial arts, he started to "order himself" — reforging his soul and accurately defining the aspects it made up. What can be considered a bane to others, is a boon to Seijūrō, acting as a weapon in its own right.

Seijūrō Arakami - Reiatsu Intimidation

One exposed to the pressure unleashed by Seijūrō will be overcome with feelings of despair and bleakness without question.

Since yōryoku is proportionate to the amount of both reiryoku and chaos have in their possession, Seijūrō can exude large amounts of it for prolonged periods; it should be noted that such energies need to be finely-tuned at a constant rate to prevent it from destroying or corrupting the users. In this sense, his absolute mastery over the Jiseiryū comes in handy as he's able to handle such energy in the same way he would with Intetsukijin's powers or the destructive aspect of his spiritual power, flowing it throughout his body or the environment to induce a multitude of effects that ends in his favor. A perfect example is that such energy is found in his signature move, which is classified as an instant-kill; interestingly enough, it's proven useful in assassinations, as it disguises his spiritual energy while instilling a sense of dread into his targets and those close to them. The sheer pressure of his yōryoku, also known as "Yōatsu" (妖圧, lit. "Dark/Evil Pressure"), is able to cause a variety of physical and psychological effects — acting as a reflection of his negative emotions. In the same way he uses his reiatsu as a form of intimidation, his yōatsu can act in the same regard but the effects amplified to unknown degrees; Seijūrō admits that he can destroy the souls of lesser beings from simply exposing them to his yōatsu while widdling down the wills and physical capabilities of stronger ones through prolonged exposure, giving him a slight advantage through combat. It's noted by those close to him that whenever he becomes the Banshōgiri Kaitōyasha, the use of this energy becomes apparent, matching his bloodlust and cruelty, thus perfectly fitting the rumors made about him.

"Ever since that day, I've trained my body to its utmost limit to harness the vast potential gifted to me by fate. I forged it to match one of my greatest and most well-known assets at my disposal; that's right, my physique is similar to that of a sword — strong, unbreakable, and deadlier than any weapon that you may possess. I wonder, can you shatter this blade or will it cut you down with its polished might?"
— Seijūrō commenting on his finely-trained physique to an opponent, juxtaposing with his weapon of choice.

Strength | Durability

Seijūrō Arakami - Overall Physical Strength

Seijūrō Arakami - Workout Regiment

Seijūrō's intense physical workout during his seclusion, working on his muscle mass.

Finely-Honed Physique: Throughout most of his life, Seijūrō was rather a scrawny individual having single ounce of muscle on him; due to this, he was subjected to physical and verbal bullying at certain points, many pointing out his waifish and frail frame being one of his shortcomings. However, soon after awakening his spiritual powers and gaining the resolve to master his talents, he took up the time to work on every aspect of himself — including improving his physical capabilities; through rigorous self-training and studying many texts on ancient Chinese medicine and martial arts, Seijūrō built his body in a manner where it's more combat-oriented, focusing on using his muscles for offensive and defensive purposes while trying to construct them to a level where it surpasses most fighters. To an extent, he succeeded as he was able to overwhelm most low to mid-level opponents through sheer physical might; upon meeting Senzui and becoming his student, he noticed certain flaws in his martial arts training and corrected them using methods he's copied from fighters across the Reikai. Such corrections led to the ascension of his physical prowess once more while helping to build his frame more efficiently; at this point, Seijūrō's physicality was much more refined, his foundations becoming stronger while a vast increase in his strength, durability, and stamina becoming more apparent. At such a point, he was able to nearly match Zaishōmon Tachibana in terms of physical might, a rather impressive feat since it was his most notable quality at the time. In addition, through the simplest motions, he was able to defeat many high-tier opponents in a few blows without the aid of his spiritual power. By the time he studied under Fucanglong, who used various medicines to correct his meridians and employed special techniques to have positive reactions to certain aspects of the body when properly honed, and trained on Anantarika for a very long period — all the while still employing weighted clothing and gear, Seijūrō started to reach the utmost limits of his physical might, almost rivaling Han Zhongli — noted by the Beast King during some of their spars on his master's orders. Impressively enough, as he continued to train in his hazardous domain, his physical might kept spiking by various degrees as his spiritual powers continually increased; the gravitational effects of the territory is a phenomenon activated by sensing the spiritual presence of an individual and increase the weight on them times x10, making it harder for them to move freely. This is typically a handicap given to them so that they can effectively utilize their spiritual powers while increasing their capabilities as they trained. This would mean that through his prolonged stay in said territory, Seijūrō's physical might has reached a point where it nearly becomes child's play to overwhelm even the most powerful and well-known entities through sheer strength alone. Additionally, his vast increase in stamina has allowed him to participate in prolonged fights without showing many signs of wear; even his endurance has spiked dramatically, allowing him to take on multiple near-fatal strikes and keep on fighting and gaining an incredible resilience to pain. He's even gained resistance to most status ailments, such as poisoning, burns, and paralysis — overcoming them in very short periods, exemplifying the strength of his immune system. To an extent, Seijūrō's physical defenses are equated to a Dragon's scale, noted to be harder than adamant, and only certain techniques are able to penetrate it; such an analogy would also mean that he's able to combat weapons and techniques barehanded without showing signs of any damage. Lihua, Zaishōmon, Ryōma, Kannon, and Mandala have noted that he boasts such unrealistic strength without having a large-built body, something only a few masters of a craft are able to accomplish — the latter four reaching the same state through the same intense yet precise training as Seijūrō. When his physical might has been combined with his reiatsu through the Jiseiryū, it forms a dense layer of armor that not even the strongest techniques can break through. He's noted that his overall physicality has reached such a point that he tends to hold back in sparring matches or mock battles with others as to not seriously injure them, rather understandable as he's able to break through most objects through simple strikes. Interestingly enough, he's also noted to be rather flexible — contorting his body in ways that only certain martial artists can; this compliments his speed and reflexes, allowing him to dodge and counter attacks from impossible angles and performing stunts that are normally impossible for the average person. Due to him using swordsmanship as his main method of combat, he often comments that his body is like a sword: refined, powerful, precise, and incapable of rusting so long as its continually honed.

Seijūrō Arakami - Intelligence

The silver-haired man comically making sense of Kotsugai's explanation of Lihua's powers through imagery, one of his various learning methods.

Genius-Level Intellect & Natural Talent: Something he's inherited from both sides of his family, Seijūrō one of the few geniuses of his generation — skilled in academics, the arts, and even combat; his talents were exuded at a young age, learning and mastering various subjects that would take normal individuals a long time to master. It's because of this that he was noticed and eventually admired, and envied to an extent, by adults and peers alike during his time in the orphanage; his mother noted that he showed a keen awareness and understanding of his surroundings, having a developed cranium at an early age — slightly growing as years passed by. Through his prime educational years, Seijūrō was considered to be the top of his grade and allowed to skip a few because of his high degree of knowledge; this allowed him to graduate two years before Sakurame, something she noted on multiple occasions, even though the two were a year apart. Even when he suffered from depression, he was still capable of rational thought which served him well from escaping those that pursued him for his vast volumes of spirit energy. He noted that his love for books and literature had kept him company and gave him a degree of sanity; even now, he still reads complicated books that only a few would understand — especially those written in different languages. During the time where he started to harness his capabilities, he mainly observed the activities of spiritual beings from afar, learning various tactics and techniques relating to spiritual power and mastered them in a short amount of time after deciphering their mechanics with a single glance; such a talent allowed him to rein in the once rampant energies seeping from his being, thus no longer haunted by those pursuing him. This later extended to his use of Intetsukijin, which he was able to master by communicating with the various essences trapped within, forming bonds with them, thus no longer appearing as a maelstrom of wailing souls, and borrowing their powers for his benefit — something only a few users were able to do successfully, albeit with many years of practice. Something that's been noted by Fucanglong and Senzui alike, Seijūrō is a quick learner, grasping concepts much faster than the average soul; this allows him to bulldoze through many sessions with ease, even when the lessons themselves are challenging by normal standards. In a comedic and sarcastic tone, both commented that it was rather boring teaching him as he doesn't struggle much; this trait carries over to his training with Seireitou, where he was able to master most things dole out to him — albeit struggling to a certain degree because of infamous difficulty surrounding them, proven time and time again by his number one disciple.

While holding preference to academics and the arts, most of his genius lies in the field of combat; being a Sōzōshin, he naturally has a penchant for battle and conflict. Derived from his keen awareness of his surroundings, being able to break down the mechanics of an ability or a technique, and many years of battle — which also honed his primal instincts, Seijūrō is an excellent tactician and strategist; much of his tactics are derived from philosophies on combat he's read in books and ancient text, while his strategies are based on observation — taking into account details of the situation, from surroundings to his opponents and even factoring the assets in his possession. He commonly looks at a situation like a game of Go, Shogi or Chess — three particular favorites, with each piece representing an individual or an action. While some of his planning is on the fly, others are long-term, especially when it concerns something he can't normally handle for a given reason. Many have wondered about the secrets of his incredible levels of intelligence; in response, Seijūrō had once stated that it has three foundations: studying, thought processing, and the use of mental images — the latter of which is much easier and something he prefers. From there, he builds on them with the information presented, giving him a concise image of what he's dealing with. Through his manipulation of others by way of acting, he employs study. In terms of learning multiple languages and adapting to various cultures, thought processing is used. And when he's dealing with combat situations and learning new techniques, he uses mental images. He's been noted to be able to read the thoughts and actions of others, commonly using bodily and facial motions. Additionally, he can fool others by giving them misinformation either about himself or a particular situation; this is commonly used in combat as to lull them into a false sense of security in order to deal a major blow when they least expect it. Though something he doesn't like to admit, he also has a penchant for playing mind games with others, most of which are rather sadistic — stemming from his Banshōgiri Kaitōyasha personage, and can be seen as a form of torture. He's stated that he can break a person's spirit with a few words, aiming at their weaknesses and insecurities through accurate guesses he's made about them. The most prominent example of his intelligence is his utter mastery over the art of the sword in merely a few years, something that would take others centuries if not millennia to accomplish; this is exemplified by his mastery of the basics, usage of various schools and teachings created over the course of many millennia, and his keen perception of a few principles that others would disregard — creating his own practices from them, thus revolutionizing the art entirely. Due to his genius, he's become one of the youngest grandmasters in all of the Reikai, only a few being able to match him.

"What's going on? A moment before, he was susceptible to my Zanpakutō's abilities and now.... it's not it's affecting him at all. It's like his body and mind has analyzed the capabilities of my sword and adjusted accordingly. Even for a normal combatant, it's hard if not impossible. But him.... it's done like if it comes naturally; almost as if... it's acting like his "combat immune system" of some sort."
— Ryōma commenting on Seijūrō's adaptability during their initial battle.
Seijūrō Arakami - Advanced Growth Rate

Seijūrō noticing sudden improvements in his body during combat.

Advanced Rate of Development: Something attributed to his educational, artistic, and combat genius, Seijūrō has an incredibly high degree of development, which made itself known at an early age; it can properly explain his various natural talents, which most of his peers lacked, earning him their envy and praise. Currently, such a development rate is key to his combat prowess and serves as one of the foundations as his status as a grandmaster in lieu of his youthfulness. As if it was a gift from the heavens themselves, Seijūrō is one of the select few that's able to steadily adapt and grow during battle — overcoming obstacles that he previously had trouble with; it's such a notable trait that many find it rather dangerous to battle him for prolonged periods as his body would become adjusted to their combat rhythm and counter it accordingly. He and many others attribute this factor to his Sōzōshin heritage, one of the few races with incredibly high combat potential. Senzui once explained that Seijūrō's in a constant state of evolution, slowly adjusting to his vast potential by bringing out parts of it through various scenarios — conflicts being the most common yet effective catalyst; when exposed to a new element, his body goes into a reactive state — using all of its energy to analyze said element and come up with a way to either assimilate, build upon, counter, or adjust to it. This is later supported by Seijūrō when he once stated that his body was "pulsating" and his movements started to improve by a certain degree, whether through the obtainment of a new power or skill, better functioning of his physical body, adjustments in his mentality, a better connection with his surroundings, a notable increase of his spiritual power, or anything of a similar nature. The effects are random, yet are always beneficial. His homemaking skills, understanding of various cultures through exposure, and his artistic genius stems from this trait. Regardless, like everything else in life, it can only be useful if exercised, meaning that such an attribute can only manifest if Seijūrō dedicates himself in a certain area. When one thinks about it, this feature can be seen as a "true foundation" of Seijūrō's entirety — all powers, skills, and other traits firmly built upon it. Fucanglong stated that such a development rate is something many martial artists envy because it would allow them to understand certain principles in an art and help them through training and combat situations that are normally above their skill level. Han Zhongli elaborated that Seijūrō has the capabilities to become one of the few entities in the Reikai that can rival a high-level Kami's might, simply attributing such potential to this particular trait. Even Central 46 found him to be a credible threat upon discovery of this trait, serving as part of the reason for his current ranking in the Jūsanseiza.

Seijūrō Arakami - Primal Instincts

Seijūrō succumbing to his primal urges in the heat of combat, further heightening his fighting potential.

Heightened Primal Warrior Instincts: One of the basic features of any being, regardless of their race, origins, or station in life, is instinct; it's said that instinct helps distinguish the strong from the weak and a clear sign of one rising to power. While instinct is rather key in a being's survival, it's overlooked by intelligence and regarded as something primitive; this is especially true in the modern era where smarts are praised above all. However, such a feature isn't wasted in the world of martial arts and conflict, where one's life and pride is always at stake. It's commonly stated that the one with the more honed instinct is destined for victory, which is later proven in many scenarios. From the time he underwent the "Day of Black Harvest", to the moment he awakened his spiritual powers — becoming a target for many ravenous and lethal spiritual beings, Seijūrō's instincts have served him well, allowing him to get away to see another day; even during his missions and many of his battles, Seijūrō tends to rely on his instinct when his planning betrays him — using every aspect of his body as a sensor to avoid danger. Upon arriving and setting up base in the Yuanren, the spiritual dimension equivalent to the wild, where instincts reign as king and determined one's position in the natural order, members of the Arakami Troupe quickly and harshly learned that logic doesn't apply and they can only rely on their ability to naturally feel out danger and react accordingly; from that point on, under Fucanglong's guidance, Seijūrō worked on becoming more primal and tapping into the deepest parts of himself — eventually elevating himself to the same level as certain Beast Kings when completing his training. This further evolved during his stays in his personal domain of Ananatarika, the most dangerous place in all of the Yuanren, where one must be on their guard at all times unless they are devoured by its denizens and the natural phenomena composing it. As he naturally had his guard up during his depression to the earlier stages of the Troupe, Seijūrō was able to reach a point where it's impossible to catch him off-guard as his body has "auto-reactions" — immediately acting the moment his sense finds something amiss. Surprise attacks and traps are rendered useless because of such heightened awareness and he's able to predict his opponent's actions in a much easier fashion, counteracting at a moment's notice. From Seijūrō's account, his honed instincts have allowed him to understand the natural order of his environment — which eventually gave birth to ideas on how to use it to his advantage; in this sense, he compares such thinking to that of a wild beast, a statement that can be attributed to many fighters with the same level of instincts, becoming animals in their own right.

Master Assassin: Given his line of work — most of his missions being assassinations, acting as a bodyguard, quelling internal and external conflicts, and being sent to war zones to demolish enemy forces using all means available, Seijūrō is a premier assassin, being able to kill all he deems his target with the utmost precision using a variety of methods that he's either invented, learned, or mimicked — the latter of which is mostly derived from the Onmitsukidō of the Gotei 13, encountering some or most of their members every so often; having gone after various individuals over the years, some of them connected to his personal vendetta, Seijūrō has familiarized himself with ways that can easily guarantee him a clean kill with little to no evidence remaining. For example, by simply aiming at a person's vitals using simple finger motions, he can induce various lethal effects — such as organ failure, muscle tearage, and others of a similar nature, which can either slowly kill them or cause an instant death depending on how they're struck; regardless, when one observes the deceased's body, they deduce it as a natural death, as there are no visible signs it was caused by an external force. Seijūrō states that his methods are constantly changing depending on his target, thus he relies on multiple skills and tools to do the deed — ranging from his martial arts to his swordsmanship and shurikenjutsu, and even the use of his unique Reijutsu. All of these, however, have one thing in common: the use of speed, which is key to a perfect assassination; Seijūrō moves so quick using his honed speed and agility, that his actions go unnoticed until after they've taken place. Such experience serves him well in battle, as he often uses such knowledge to end battles in the quickest and most efficient manner possible before things start to fall out of his favor.

Zanjutsu[]

"The blade's only purpose is to cut — severing everything aimed at its master. Whether it's for self-defense or an act of violence, its honed edge will be stained with blood. No matter how it's used, someone will be cut down; no life can truly be saved through a blade and losses are always imminent whenever it's wielded. It's much different from martial arts, which seeks to create bonds with others through the heart and mind — preserving life as a result. Thus, it's only fitting that we sever everything that threatens our existence while bearing the harshest sins that comes along with it. It's the reason that we refine the sword in any given way; a rusted sword can do nothing but shatter. In essence, the usage of a sword means a preservation of our entirety and the destruction of those threatening it; everything else is secondary."
— Seijūrō's philosophy about the blade and his reasoning for the existence of Zanjutsu and Kenjutsu.

Martial Arts Prowess[]

"When he moves, it's sharp and precise. Each of his strikes has such precision and deadliness, fluid like water — leaving no room for error and tearing apart anything that it makes contact with it. As if..... he's fighting with a blade!"
— An opponent's comparison of Seijūrō's movements with swordsmanship.

Reijutsu[]

"I've noticed this for quite a while now; Seijūrō's form of casting is much different from others, even among masters. While some are continuously affixed to a system, those like Seijūrō are able to manipulate at a given source — granting them abilities that put them leagues above others. In his case, must be due to his understanding and influence over the spirits themselves, a rather difficult feat taking years if not centuries to grasp, let alone master."
— Kaede insight on the nature of Seijūrō's usage of Reijutsu.

Asauchi[]

"A sword possessing the ability to enslave and utilize the essence of those it traps within its confines, disregarding their power; in theory, its wielder can control an army at all times. No wonder many fear its might and claim it to be just a mere legend. It goes beyond the standards of the Zanpakutō and can easily threaten the Reikai's balance if left unchecked. And to think that Seijūrō mastered such a devastating weapon?!"
— Ryōma and various individuals noting the vicious nature and might of Intetsukijin while questioning its existence and Seijūrō's dominion over it.

Seijūrō Arakami - Asauchi

Seijūrō wielding Intetsukijin in its base form.

Intetsukijin (陰鉄鬼神, lit. "Shadow Iron Demonic Psyche") is the name of Seijūrō's Asauchi, being uniquely different than any spiritual weapon known to the Reikai; this is due to its infamous ability of assimilating the essence and souls of beings that come into contact with it — regardless of race or origins, weaponizing it for its master's benefit. However, it's due to this ability that it also carries the side-effect of corrupting its wielders if their will isn't strong enough, as the overflowing malice from the entrapped essences and souls can drive one mad. Not many have been able to master the blade's powers in its entirety, but those that did are heralded as one of the most powerful beings in all of the Reikai's history, capable of wielding the might of many armies and decimating all those that foolishly opposed them. The shape of Intetsukijin has changed shape when in the hands of a different wielder, but it's known that it always remains a sword due to its origins as an Asauchi, albeit one of the failures of Ōetsu Nimaiya as it didn't meet the basic standards of a sword like its counterpart, Sayafushi; this is due to its nature as an "imperfect Zanpakutō", being a reflection of its wielder's being. Its original name was "Nioh Kurikara" (仁王倶利加羅, lit. "Benevolent King's Dragon Carving") before he changed it to better reflect its malicious nature.

In Seijūrō's hands, it takes the form of a traditional nodachi with a silver luminescent blade and a jet-black back end that's very blunt; having a black tsuka, its faded golden tsuba is square shaped with the corners curving inward and having two oval openings on the left and right sides; on said tsuba's upper face, there are engraved intricate decorations of Asian origins, and its lower face having the kanji of the four aspects composing the Mitama stationed at four main directions — mirroring the Four Symbols in Asian mythology. Interestingly enough, Seijūrō stated that positioning of each Mitama best personified each member of the Four Cardinal Spirit Beasts, thus can represent his bond with the rest of them. On the upper side lies the kanji for Aramitama (荒魂) — symbolizing Seijūrō's chaotic and destructive nature and role as the Azure Dragon, the lower side has the kanji for Kushimitama (奇魂) — symbolizing Fukumi's noble upbringing and elegance, being admired by those around her, and represents her role as the Vermilion Bird, the farthest left side has the kanji for Nigimitama (和魂) — symbolizing Mandala's serene nature and his ability to synchronize with his surroundings because of his mastery over Hakuda, and represents his role as the White Tiger, and lastly on the farthest right side is the kanji for Sakimitama (幸魂) — symbolizing Kannon's signature happy-go-lucky persona and him being a thrillseeker, wandering the Reikai to look for new challenges while proving himself as the very best, and representing his role as the Black Turtle. Unlike other Zanpakutō or Asauchi, Intetsukijin possesses a unique custom-made golden kashira that's shaped like an oni's skull with emerald encrusted eyes, its mouth wide open, and expressing an intimidating mien; it has no special qualities, being an ornament that Seijūrō thought would compliment its vicious nature. Being among the minority, Seijūrō is technically one of the few males that wield a female Zanpakutō, though such a statement can be contested for so many reasons.

Seijūrō Arakami - Asauchi Creation

Intetsukijin being forged by one of Nimaiya's protegees.

According to the spirit of Intetsukijin, the blade's history is a bloody one — influenced by the malicious and avaricious will of its previous masters, leading to what it's feared for in the modern era; around the time the Zanpakutō was invented, the Reikai was in a turbulent state: naturally, physically, and economically. Many people have suffered and certain races were driven to extinction due to the influence of major powers; the world was on the brink of collapse after the events of the Quincy Blood War, which left significant scarring on many individuals, locations, and races alike. In order to remedy this problem, one man who had gained the divine favor of the Kami, sought out a way to bring balance; ironically, it was only through conflict that such a thing could be possible. In order to invoke his "holy crusade", he needed a weapon that had the power to purge everything he deemed "unfitting", thus went to Ōetsu Nimaiya for aid; though he refused, one of his protegees stepped up to perform his request, being aware of the world's current state and admiring his resolve at fixing something that others had given up on for a myriad of reasons. The two went on a long journey, gathering materials from the deepest regions of the Reikai while witnessing the destruction laid bare on the world they knew — strengthening their resolve. After some time, the protegee took a total of ten days and nights to forge the weapon commissioned by the man, using his teacher's special method of forging Zanpakutō and employing all of his power to perfect said weapon to its utmost limit. Upon completion, the Asauchi the man requested was born, but at the cost of the protegee's life; in his sadness, the man swore that he would carry on his will and do whatever it took to resolve the issues plaguing their home. In his honor, the Asauchi was named Nioh Kurikara, which also denoted to the purpose originally intended for the blade's use.

Seijūrō Arakami - Asauchi Legend

The bloody history of the Asauchi, killing and assimilating much essence during its warped existence.

For many years, the Nioh Kurikara was used to "heal" the Reikai through its many cuts — slashing apart evil spirits, corrupted essences, and destructive concepts that were slowly eating the world away. This is due to the sword's special properties of cutting away all things that spiritually harmed the world itself, leaving the physical untouched. Due to his acts, he and his weapon gained much fame throughout the spiritual world, so much so that many coveted the blade's power for themselves; since then, many have gone after his life while he was performing his duties, though none have been successful at besting him. Eventually, his sense that his demise was nigh, thus entrusted the weapon to sacred village in the Yuanren which was well-known for maintaining spiritual artifacts and raising powerful exorcists; sometime after his death, the blade was stolen during a bandit raid on the sacred village and later fell into the hands of a Magatsu-no-Kami, who was one of the coveters of its existence. Through his divine power, he changed the very nature of the blade to cause as much destruction as possible — spreading the various evils its previous user tried so hard to cleanse in his lifetime. As he committed one vile and malicious act after another, Nioh Kurikara became soaked in the blood and evil energies — changing its once-divine aura into something of a malignant nature; at the same time, it gained the power to assimilate the essence of those it encounters, which stemmed from the original power belonging to the Magatsu-no-Kami. In his final diabolical act, he passed down the contaminated sword to a Shinigami, knowing how the race was prone to war and violence, passing it off as an "act of Divine Will".

Seijūrō Arakami - Asauchi Spiritual Inscriptions

The seals placed on the weapon's surface to contain its enormous and ever-growing powers.

Since then, the blade had been used to commit even more atrocities and shed much blood; it reached a point that it started to corrupt its user, as its aura became too powerful to contain, slowly assimilating him into its being — becoming a part of the maelstrom of entrapped essence and malignancy. This pattern continued for many centuries, with the Nioh Kurikara's power continuously growing, with many starting to fear the blade. Eventually, it fell into the hands of a powerful spiritualist, who used a Reijutsu originating from Takama-ga-hara to place many seals along the Asauchi's surface, containing its malignant aura while mitigating any further damage it may cause; sealing it away in Sekkiseki that's enhanced through powerful divine energies, it was sent to the Human World, where it finally ended up in Seijūrō's hands, who would later be recognized as one of its few masters, becoming the reason for his ability to manipulate the souls and essence of those around him, and served as his signature and most prized weapon.

Primary Form[]

Seijūrō Arakami - Asauchi Initial Stage

The Asauchi in its awakened state, using the Kushiaramitama-no-Shinken's authority over all swords and spiritual weaponry as a catalyst.

As a psuedo-Zanpakutō of sorts, Intetsukijin has a released form that it can freely access; however, unlike the former that would simply require a command for activation, Seijūrō needs to employ the use of the Kushiaramitama-no-Shinken as catalyst to unleash its powers through a sudden evolution; fitting for a relic capable of drawing out the true potential of sword-based weaponry. By holding the two parallel to each other, he states the sword's release command, "Bend Everything in the Universe to your Absolute Will" (征く万象あなたの絶対意志に, Sei ku banshō anata no zettai ishi ni), just like any other Zanpakutō while momentarily flaring his spiritual power, letting it be absorbed into the weapons — which subsequently causes a unique form of Resonance. In this new form, it takes the appearance of a heavily-designed tsurugi, said to be forged from spiritually-enhanced tamahagane — a unique metal with incredible properties, only used in the finest weaponry and treasures in Japan; the "yang" aspect is the double-edge blade portion that ends near the bottom in a unique concave curve. The "yin" aspect is the bulky handle etched with a spiral, leading down to the base of the sword's hilt where it's greeted with a uniquely curvaceous menuki attachment. When spiritual power or any other energy is flown through it, the phrase "Order cannot exist without chaos. Chaos cannot exist without order. Through the bindings of the dual forces, everything is in a state of flux. All things are kept harmonious." (無乱麻無し規律。無規律無し乱麻。結合の陰陽万物流転。諸事万端円滑。, Mu ranma-nashi kiritsu. Mukiritsu-nashi ranma. Ketsugō no onmyō banbutsuryūten. Shojibantan enkatsu.) appears in golden luminescent letters — filling both sides of the blade along its center, with the blade itself surrounding by the multiple seals initially implemented to keep its power in check. The phrase itself represents Seijūrō's success at "ordering the chaos" both within himself and Intetsukijin, achieving perfect balance and accessing its latent potential to its fullest. According to Seijūrō, Gōken, and Fucanglong, this new evolution was only possible after reforging both the blade and its owner many times, gaining complete mastery over themselves and each other — creating a strudy and harmonious bond. Thus, this release is a reflection of Seijūrō's status as Intetsukijin's true owner; in addition, he's the only wielder that's capable of doing such a release, as the previous ones simply treated Intetsukijin as a simple tool for bloodshed and mayhem. In Seijūrō's opinion, he holds preference over the sealed state than the release state because it makes it difficult for him to use his signature sword style properly — the blade being too bulky and the sheath disappearing when it's transformed, though he does admit it that it's an excellent medium for his unique brand of Reijutsu, the two practically similar in both nature and execution.

Seijūrō Arakami - Asauchi Spiritual Power

The blade emitting spiritual power from its being; it's considered to be the most commonly seen taking its origins into account.

Primary Form Special Ability: It's well-known that Intetsukijin is infamous for its ability of assimilating essences and souls of those unfortunate to be slain by it; with each new soul and/or essence, it continuously grows in strength, becoming more powerful than mightiest of spiritual weapons — proven by the powerful aura it constantly emits. By drawing upon the powers, skills, and other capabilities possessed by each one, Intetsukijin can conjure an array of faculties at any given time; however, while it's rather random to Seijūrō — the selection is within the blade's power, acting in response to the opponent it faces. While he attributes this to the blade being rather "moody", as aforementioned, in actuality, it stems from battle experience culminating over vast millennia whenever used by its past wielders. Thus, while the abilities are sometimes not to his liking, he notes that they serve some kind of purpose. Ryōma stated that Seijūrō had gained some control over which abilities he wants to employ, after mastering the power of his ancient weapon and forming a harmonious bond with all of the spirits upon gaining their respect and admiration. Intetsukijin begrudgingly confessed that she's gained even more respect for her current master, as such a feat was nearly impossible because of the everlasting grudge that each one had the blade and its previous wielders. In this regard, the name of this ability is called the "Spiritual World of Darkness" (霊界冥, Reikaimei).

In addition, the blade in this state gains the ability to manipulate the souls and essences of those around them through a unique form of resonance; this is performed through cutting its targets, leaving small traces of its power in them. Through the resonance caused by the blade emitting its power and having it react to the power imbued in said target, Seijūrō is able to manipulate it in any way he sees fit. In certain instances, he was able to manipulate the various elements of nature through such a method, making others believe that his sword had elemental properties or he was simply enchanting it with a unique form of Reijutsu. Not only that, he was able to overlap the standard abilities generated by the release of his Asauchi with such manipulation, causing the two to be enhanced to a certain degree becoming even deadlier. When it comes to the souls of biological creatures and objects possessing a degree of "spirit", Seijūrō can inflict numerous amount of side-effects, changing their behavior to a certain degree; he can induce psychological attacks on living beings in the same way he manipulates his reiatsu and yōatsu, cause debilitation to their physiology or spiritual powers, and even sever their connections with others — causing them to "simply not exist". Even rousing the chaos within them is possible through this ability; however, the opposite can be true as well, as he's able to perform enhancements, boosting their overall capabilities in a similar manner to both Bianca and Sakurame — the Arakami Troupe's healing and support members. In terms of objects, he can affect their shape and properties to the point where they become something else entirely. However, the catch is that they have to change into something of a similar nature, thus it's considered to be psuedo-transmutation. A sword can be transformed into a spear, part of a forest transformed into sea of sentient posionous plants that viciously attack its offender, even something as simplistic as a pillar becoming a barricade becomes possible through Intetsukijin's secondary ability.

Seijūrō Arakami - Intetsukijin Essence Assimilation

Intetsukijin assimilating the essence of a defeated foe, seen with one of its previous wielders, being used later on.

To an extent, energy is affected by this ability as it's considered be "essence", thus Seijūrō has a greater degree of control over energy particles such as reishi to a degree far exceeding that of other species who commonly use it to their benefit. While the effects are long-lasting, they can easily be broken if one has complete control over themselves, either through sheer mastery of their body or through the Jiseiryū. Initially, Seijūrō was only able to affect a few people and objects at a time, but since his understanding and mastery over his weapon, he's been able to affect a vast majority at a given time. The name of this ability is called the "Material World of Light" (物界光, Bukaikō), forming a pair with the aforementioned; while Zanpakutō are known to have one ability, as per the rules, this one technically has two — albeit both of them being considered one in the same but applied a bit differently.

Consistent Faculties: Despite the inconsistent nature of Intetsukijin, there are a few powers and skills that remain consistent with each release; this is due to them being a part of Seijūrō himself, personal creations crafted from the various assets available to him. Another reason is that the spirit of Intetsukijin respects and values her master highly, thus wanting to keep him independent of her will. Seijūrō noted that such powers and skills tend to overlap and compliment the powers generated by his blade, serving as great bolsters and fallbacks in their own right. In a fitting sense, he also remarked that this will be one of the few times the two will ever agree on anything, as the two tend to argue when it comes to the powers necessary to defeat their opponent. According to Intetsukijin, she commonly dubs these permanent skills and techniques as "Murderous Intentions" (害心, Gaishin), all of them known to kill or severely injure those hit by them — directly or indirectly, as it was intended. Not surprisingly, he can use such abilities in Intetsukijin's sealed and ascended states or when employing one of his various Shinuchi forms.
Seijūrō Arakami - Asauchi Grudge Technique

The curse infecting an enemy's body through a single cut, instantly killing them upon completion.

Seijūrō Arakami - Asauchi Grudge Blast

A high-level demonic entity being overwhelmed and destroyed by the corrosive energies of the blade in the form of a large wave.

  • Shikongō Meigetsuzan (死魂業冥月斬, lit. "Dead Essence Karma, Stygian Moon Beheading"): Probably Seijūrō's well-recognized signature technique, embodying the principles of destruction and best associated with his epithet as the Banshōgiri Kaitōyasha, the Shikongō Meigetsuzan is regarded as an instant-kill — destroying everything and everyone that makes it makes contact with, disregarding all other elements. Such a power can only be attributed to the perfect balance of two factors: extensive amounts of yōryoku produced by Intetsukijin, which stems from the malice of those it captured, and the destructive properties of Seijūrō's reiatsu. By generating large amounts of his refined spiritual power through the blade and mixing it with the malignant energies it produces, he can generate a powerful poison that comes in two forms: black curse-like markings or a large and overwhelming wave of green malignant energy. In terms of the former, it can be applied through physical contact with the target via stabbing or cutting; due to this, each slash by the blade becomes lethal, as the poison enters the body — slowly decomposing the organs and bodily tissue before making its way to the heart and brain and effectively stopping them simultaneously. A sign of the posion being spread is through the black curse-like markings which appear as intricate mudras that's similar to kanji. Seijūrō noted that the process is excruciating to its victim, giving them a slow and painful death; in addition, once the process starts, there's no possible way for it to be halted or cured, as the posion is noted to be extremely complex and has the nasty side-effect of nullifying all regenerative and healing capabilities the owners may have to ensure absolute effectiveness. With the latter, it's launched in the same manner as most Reiseī techniques — lining the blade with the aforementioned energies and swinging it in the direction of the target. Such an energy wave is noted to also have explosive properties in addition to decompsoition, thus able to create a chain that secures an instant death of multiple opponents at once; Seijūrō's most infamous feat with the technique in this form was obliterating a legion of low, mid, and high-tier enemies that once opposed him, leaving no traces of their existence while instilling fear into onlookers, thus furthering his dark reputation. When the technique clashes with another spell or technique, because of its instant-kill nature, it decomposes the bonds of said technique or spell it clashes with, gradually weakening it and securing its absolute victory. Even experienced Reijutsu users would have a difficult time overcoming this technique, to the point that they would try to avoid it rather than countering it. Even beings who are natural resistant to posion or use the element in some way are susceptible to the technique's effects; Seijūrō commonly performs the Shikongō Meigetsuzan against those he's sworn to kill at all costs, thus a common mode for assassinations.
Seijūrō Arakami - Zanjutsu Azure Dragon Wave

The blue dragon energy wave formed from Seijūrō's spiritual energy heavily injuring an opponent.

Seijūrō Arakami - Zanjutsu Azure Elemental Dragon Wave

The technique when composed from one of the five elements, gaining additional power.

  • Heijaryū Tenseiha (碧邪竜天星破, lit. "Azure Wicked Dragon, Heavenly Body Fracture"): A representation of his status as the current incarnation of the Azure Dragon, this technique is a signature of Seijūrō's — albeit much weaker than the Shikongō Meigetsuzan, as its made purely from spiritual power and its not geared towards killing; regardless, it's powerful in its own right and commonly used in many of the man's battles. A rather simplistic technique, it's might is said to be many times greater than the famed Getsuga Tenshō carried by "Moon-Type" Zanpakutō and the Harudōga Mūshō of the infamous Asakura Clan, as it calls forth the vast powers of the Reikai in its entirety and infuses it with Seijūrō's power, calling forth his Azure Dragon lineage from the deepest recesses of his soul. By flaring up his spiritual power and infusing it with his sword, the blade creates a certain resonance with the surroundings — drawing upon large amounts of Reishi from the surroundings, finely lining Intetsukijin's edges and transforming into azure sparks that violently shoot outward; with a single energy, Seijūrō releases the large volumes of pent up compressed energies in a single swing, which is commonly projected as the visage of an intricate yet elegant Chinese Dragon with a sapphire at the center of its skull. As it flies towards its target(s), the landscape is torn asunder and the very skies are reaved in two as if it was sliced by a blade; such things are understandable, as the Azure Dragon is the representation of Zanjutsu — having authority over all blades and other weaponry. The technique itself is overwhelming, far surpassing the powers of Goryūtenmetsu — recognized as the most powerful Hadō spell in all of the Soul Society, when used in the hands of a fellow grandmaster, by an extremely large margin. While the technique can be employed for pure power, Seijūrō can substitute such force for absurd cutting power, rending everything in his line of view; in addition, he can use the technique as a medium for his other Zanjutsu principles and techniques, further improving the technique itself in a multitude of ways. As the Azure Dragon has authority over nature, specifically the elements composing the sky and those lying beyond the heavens, Seijūrō can use them as substitute for his spiritual energy; while not as powerful, they're versatile nonetheless as they gain additional effects not found in the original version. An example is that an Azure Dragon made out of wind or lightning has the additional effects of producing storm conditions, shocking the opponent, slicing them to bits, depriving them of oxygen, amongst others of a similar nature. Having mastered his sword in its entirety, he's able to launch this technique as many times as needed without wear, thus being a reliable asset he falls back on at times, sometimes employing it as a set up for other techniques and tactics he may have up his sleeve.

Seijūrō Arakami - Vicious Dimensional Tears

The dimensional tears created by the technique, sucking up the remains of an unfortunate opponent struck by them.

Seijūrō Arakami - Vicious Dimensional Portal

The inside of the dimensional tears created by the technique, being similar to a Garganta — acting as a method of cross-dimensional transportation.

  • Kūenjaku Banyūkaitō (空円寂万有解刃, lit. "Hollow Nirvana, Universal Dissolution Blade"): A technique that embodies Seijūrō's absolute mastery over the sword, this makes use of his ability to slice through space and other concepts, rending them apart and outright nullifying it; its existence is possible after being exposed to various aspects of both the Reikai and the Human World, using them as a means to perfect his swordsmanship to its utmost limit. Kūenjaku Banyūkaitō is a rift-making technique, exposing the various chaotic forces making up reality, similar to a Garganta; by infusing his blade with his spiritual energy and utilizing the principles of Jinzen — creating a pathway between himself, his blade, and the environment around him, he slices through the space in front of him, disrupting the essences making up that results in a rupture of sorts being created in the form of one or more cosmic black cuts. Acting as a vacuum, it possesses an incredible gravitational field that forcibly pulls in everything and everyone within its range — trapping them in the endless chaotic void, where their bodies and spirits will be slowly broken down until they disappear into oblivion; soon after, the spatial rifts quickly collapses in on itself, creating another powerful wind vacuum and leaving an imprint on the surface of where it was used. While the distortions can appear as black blades, Seijūrō has been known to create a larger orb eclipsing most of the environment or smaller orbs that can appear in multiple locations simultaneously. In the similar respect to the Shikongō Meigetsuzan, this can be considered a non-lethal one-hit kill technique, as it affects the enemy while not harming them of any sort. While having offensive properties, Seijūrō has noted to use the technique as a form of cross-dimensional teleportation, traveling between worlds, dimensions, and aspects of reality, thus acting as a more versatile form of the Senkaimon used by the Shinigami, the Enkaiō Sakeme used by the Togabito, the Descorrer used by the Hollows and Arrancars, and the Keikaigi spell developed for travels for beings outside of the three aforementioned races, even though it originated from the Shinigami. By jumping into the Kūenjaku rift, he's able to create a solid platform made of earth from the chaotic energies within the dimensional space, walking on them for a certain period until reaching the point of destination, represented by an ominous looking sun — which he jumps through. Upon arrival, he uses the technique again to open it once more, exiting the chaotic rift. Of the three signature techniques, this one is the least used, reserved for mundane travel or against enemies who can't be killed through normal means. According to Seijūrō, the technique is many times stronger when used through the Yōtetsu Habakiri because of the sword's nature as one who cuts through the spiritual and metaphysical realms.
Randomized Powers: As aforementioned, Intetsukijin weaponizes the very essences and souls trapped within its confines — turning their power into its own and maximizes it to its utmost limits. With each release, it accesses a different spirit which best fits the situation — never using the same spirit in a row; according to Seijūrō, Intetsukijin uses a spirit that best fits the situation after analyzing the situation fully. Weaker spirits get a lower-class ability used on them while stronger opponents will get the highest class. However, there have been exceptions, as it's known to use God-Class spirits to take out a multitude of opponents at once, or weaker-class spirits on stronger opponents as a way of toying with and looking down on them — the latter of which had almost gotten her master killed on various occasions if it wasn't for his quick-witted nature and high combat prowess. In this fashion, he jokingly describes Intetsukijin as a "moody bitch". According to Seijūrō, he commonly dubs these randomized skills and techniques as "Vengeful Imagination" (憎気想像力, Nikuge Sōzōryoku) — denoting to the Intetsukijin's method of making the opposition suffer in some way.

Secondary Form[]

Seijūrō Arakami - Asauchi Final Stage

Intetsukijin secondary form, considered to be the result of the unification of all of Seijūrō's blades and the Kushiaramitama-no-Shinken.

Intetsutan: Majinkyōsei Ishikikajō (陰鉄鍛·魔神狂製意識過剰, lit. "Shadow Iron Forging: Produced Madness of Demon God's Hyperconsciousness") is the name Seijūrō has given to the secondary form of Intetsukijin, mimicking the name schemes of the Zanpakutō's Bankai. It's considered to be one of Seijūrō's last resorts, its powers far exceeding any weapon or ability in his possession; he attributes this factor to the process of which the blade's form is taken. As it's a combination every single blade in his possession, it only makes sense that their power would be fused and magnified as well. While he boldly states that the power level of Intetsukijin's secondary form far surpasses a mastered Bankai, he also proclaims that its true capabilities can only be unleashed when used in tandem with one of the various forms of his Shinuchi — the sword creating a resonance with his soul, linking him to the spirits trapped within and thus, achieving full power without the spirit's interference. Furthermore, the sword is meant to reflect both Seijūrō's sword in its entirety, no longer in danger of succumbing to its corruptive influence like the previous wielders, and reaching the precipice that only a few are able to reach over the course of many millennia, regardless of their combat practice.

This form was unlocked during one of his many training sessions in the Cave of Spirit and Time in his personal domain — Anantarika; due to the time dilation of the cave, being precisely x3652.4 faster than in the normal realm (precisely speaking: ten years = one day), Seijūrō was able to achieve something that would've taken other years to accomplish, albeit describing the achieving method as a "living hell" due to the cave's effects on one's mentality and perception. Perhaps it's because of such an experience that he's undergone many times, properly re-forging himself and his blade so that he can obtain a greater power, that the blade's new form originates. When invoking this power, he uses his spiritual energy to synchronize all of his blades, creating a unique form of resonance using the principles of Jinzen. As all of them glow luminously, he then recites the phrase "Awaken, Blade of the Soul that Rends Creation" (目覚め、創造を捧げる魂の刃, Mezame, sōzō o sasagerukon no ha), which engulfs the sword in a sphere of multi-colored energy, which all conglomerate as one before unveiling its new appearance; in this form, it's similar to its primary state but it's thinner and longer — closely resembling an Ōdachi; the blade portion is multi-colored consistently shimmering in the colors of the rainbow, emphasizing the total harmonization between the blade, its wielders, and the essence within. The yin-yang symbol replacing the tsuba is nearly identical, but the yang aspect is more golden, the same color as the pommel. The handle is brown and ragged in comparison with its previous forms, said to represent the remnant malignant energies trapped within the blade.

Secondary Form Ability: At its core, the abilities of this fully developed Intetsukijin remain the same — drawing upon and weaponizing the essences of those it captured or that of the surroundings; in an explanation, Seijūrō explained that most of the time, the spirit of Intetsukijin was in control, selecting which power was best for the situation — thus he had little sway over such decisions. This was due to the sword being "incomplete", thus was a bit hard to handle, despite the man's mastery of Zanjutsu and the art of the sword. However, because all of his swords, the spirits trapped within Intetsukijin, the psuedo-Zanpakutō spirit, and himself are perfectly synchronized, making the blade "complete", Seijūrō is able to freely use his weapon's powers and abilities at its maxim without restraint — especially when used with one of his Shinuchi transformations, as aforementioned.

Intetsutan: Majinkyōsei Ishikikajō is a sword that differs from other Zanpakutō because its abilities are rather unique; while it still holds to the same standards as its primary and sealed forms, it grants Seijūrō the additional power based on Vijñapti-mātra (唯識, Yuishiki ) — the theory that all existence is subjective and nothing exists outside of the mind, allowing for freedom of thought, imagination, and the possibility of enlightenment; essentially, his very thoughts and desires becomes reality, as long as Seijūrō wills it. Some people who've witnessed the power's capabilities at work compare it to the Hōgyoku. The difference between the two is that Intetsutan: Majinkyōsei Ishikikajō works by way of resonance, not through forced alteration. Essentially, Seijūrō is able to sync his spiritual power with reality itself using the blade as both a medium and a catalyst; in addition, his very will is able to influence its overall effectiveness. The stronger the belief, the more likely the power will manifest itself, amplified by the other various abilities of his evolved weapon. The combination of this power and the total control of essences and souls makes Intetsutan: Majinkyōsei Ishikikajō one of the most powerful blades in existence, to the point that many would consider it rightfully "unfair", as Seijūrō becomes nigh-unbeatable — something he's noted, becoming part of the reason this form is rarely used.

Typically, the powers he's able to conjure through his will and imagination and those originating from the blade are classified in two separate categories. For the former, they're dubbed "Authoritative Devil's Madness" (厳然魔の発狂, Genzenma no Hakkyō), while the latter is referred to as "Heretical God's Sanity" (異端神の正気, Itanjin no Shōki).

  • (Seijūrō's modification of the Hammurabi Code) "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and the punishment of death, the requiem of fury, the steel hammer of justice, and the lack of salvation for an unforgivable evil."
  • (About himself) "Though I may be a moody loner and piece of trash in the eyes of society, a demonic entity that mercilessly takes the lives of others in the eyes of my victims, and a mistake that's inherited traits from two of the most powerful beings in existence for those who consider me an adversary — knowing everything about me, at least I found a purpose in life; it's something I'll never let go of or take for granted."
  • (During his first meeting with Seireitou Kawahiru) "Oh, I guess you're my father. Not what I expected from one who's renowned throughout the martial arts world as the "God-Slaying Fist" and feared as the infamous "Shiroyasha". But as I've learned throughout my life, looks can be deceiving."
  • "I know what you're thinking: "Oh, they're gray so they can't be dangerous! Gray's a stupid and depressing color!" Well two things: one, you're a stupid and depressing color and gray just fucked you up!"
  • (To his victims before killing them) "For you, there's no hope, there's no light, there's no mercy, and definitely no future. At the end of the road, only despair, suffering, and darkness awaits you! Your demise is apparent at this point!"
  • (Seijūrō's snarkiness to another person's optimism) "Must be nice to live in your own haze of ignorance and bliss, not a care in the world to deter you from enjoying life."
  • "I have long since closed my eyes to the light of the world; it's a privilege reserved for those who refuse to taint themselves with the sin. My goal lies in the darkness, a place well-suited for one who has dirtied their hands over and over to protect the innocence of others."
  • (Defining his purpose in life) "The world is just a shit hole because everything is so well mixed together, you can't even tell the difference between good and evil. Through it all, how will one go about marking the evil in this shit hole and take them out? You wish that such things exist only in fairy tales. Heroes aren't born, they're created. Whether it'd be for someone.... or because of someone.... There's no way a person created like that would be of any use to this world, right? What we need right now isn't a hero. What we need right now in the midst of such turbulence and debauchery is someone who cleans away this world of its trash."
  • "Oh don't worry! Even if my hands are stained with the blood of countless others, I'm still able to protect what I desire without any issue."
  • (To various people he's met over a long period) "All losses in this world are due to a lack of ability. If you want to curse something, curse your own weakness."
  • (During a conversation with Mandala) "Sometimes you're confronted with the ugly parts of yourself that you don't want to see, but many things in life can tell you a lot about the things you didn't notice about yourself when you're just trying to get through somehow. I'm a perfect example because either in battle or when I'm trying to save a life, the worst sides of myself come out — only to be remedied or magnified by some internal or external force, giving me a new perspective I've never known."
  • (Reluctantly making a mental reference to Senzui's teachings) "Not everything can be resolved with brute force and skill. If one takes a second look, then maybe one can see there's a way around as well."
  • "Blah, blah, blah, blah, blaaaaaaaaaaah~! Are you loud bitches in heat or something? Tone it down a few notches, will ya? Giving me a headache here with you incessent shouting."

Trivia[]

  • He's based on Yu-Jin Lynus from Blade Note — a manhwa that the author finds to be a bit graphic, but done right.
  • Though rather undocumented, he seems to look up to Izari Kenshiko — the current holder of the Kenpachi (剣八, lit. "Sword-Eight") title and one of the few who's been under the tutelage of all four Yonkō, something rather unheard of. It's unknown where such admiration comes from, given the two have never met and the former never knew of Seijūrō's existence in the first place, but according to the silver-haired boy, Izari represents the balance of "idealism" and "power" — something most individuals are unable to balance because usually abandon one for the other to some extent.
  • According to the author, this meant to be a reflection of Devin Westbrook, his FTF counterpart, who upon his conception was seen as too overpowered by fandom standards — even though the manga itself proved otherwise, thus was scrapped for sometime until his re-creation on the author's whim. Thus, most of his skills that didn't fit the site's standards are transferred onto this article where the power scaling is more.... appropriate.
  • This will technically be the author's first character on this site since he deleted his previous ones upon request for certain reasons; it should be noted that this character is also a very powerful one, despite the author not having passed the RQPCE — mandatory to prove a user is able to create a character without power-stacking and being in poor quality.
  • Unironically, the reason why the author decided to make Seijūrō one of Seireitou Kawahiru's many bastard offspring because of the running gag with the latter concerning women; this would also fit in with the character's appearance, which shares many traits with Seireitou himself, especially the silver hair.
  • One can think of him as a power-obsessed Sasuke Uchiha when he tries to take vengeance on Itachi before the inevitable truth of the former Akatsuki member's life being revealed to him by Tobi.
  • Though something he doesn't partake in, Seijūrō is an excellent gambler that many believe to have "ample amounts of luck"; according to him, it's a simple numbers game and as long as he's able to make calculations, he will always come out on top.
  • Of all the people he's met so far, Seijūrō comments that Ryōma Yatsunishi, Kaede Hanasako, Mandala Terusake, and Lihua Chen are the people he's closest to because they're very much like himself in some way — making it easier to understand them and vice-versa, though he doesn't go into further details.

Behind the Scenes[]

Originally, Seijūrō was slated to be a rank-and-file Soul Reaper, fitting in with the standards of the RQPCE exams after reaching a dead-end with Sarutobi Toshiie — finding out that all he did was making a ridiculously OP character by the standards of his age group; however, after learning that he didn't need to take the exam for now due to the lack of new user activity, the author jumped at the chance to recreate Seijūrō into something new, yet familiar. This eventually lead to the current version, which he finds well-suited to participate in the site's Fanon Canon project, doubling as an opportunity to improve both his RPing skills and give him some ideas to use for his own story he has planned for years on FTF. However, in the second iteration, he was removed by the author's choice because his power was above the limitations of what the userbase wanted.

Should there be a theme song(s) for this character, it would be Rain by SID and Bad Luck Charm by Jeff Williams; both are noted to be rather fitting, explaining Seijūrō's past (and to an extent, how he's trying to overcome it) and how he views himself as a burden to others — especially to his comrades, causing them nothing but misfortune by becoming burdened with his personal struggles.

In terms of voice actors, Seijūrō's would have the same as his counterpart for consistency; his Japanese voice actor would be Nobuhiko Okamoto — the seiyū for very memorable anime characters such as Accelerator from A Certain Magical Index, Tōru Mutō from Shiki, Rin Okumura from Ao no Exorcist, and Rei Ōgami/Code:06 from Code:Breaker. His English dub voice actor would be Garret Storms, well known for his portrayal of Rogue Cheney from the popular anime/manga series, Fairy Tail. The English voice character's voice is more dark and somber while having a humble air to it, making it very fitting for Seijūrō overall.

When translated Seijūrō's name means "Purified Ten Sons of the Wild God". It should be noted that, while he refers to himself as just "Seijūrō Arakami", his full name was given to him by his mother to denote both his Sōzōshin and Kitsune heritage. Kawahiru, which means "by the river" or "surrounding the daytime" — depending on the translation, comes from his father, Ōganosuke, which means "regular fur lying on the side", derived from the name of his late swordsmanship instructor to which he loved as a father figure yet sadly had a bloody bout with upon his final request as his only student — proving that Seijūrō was worthy enough to inherit both his name and techniques in accordance with his school's traditions, thus denotes to Seijūrō swordsmanship skills being his main and most proficient form of combat, while Mae which translates as "ago" — often denoting to past events, coming from the legendary Kitsune of the same name; in a sense, the last part is considered to be rather fitting considering how heavily influenced Seijūrō is by his past, turning him into his present self.
