The Shade (シェード, Shēdo), are a beings who developed Shinigami and Hollow powers simultaneously, meaning that they manifested at the exact same time. Unlike most groups, the Shade, although one species, exist in factions.
Overview[]
Unlike the Vizard or Arrancar, who existed as one thing, and attained the powers of another, The Shade attained developed as Hollow and Shinigami directly at the same time. The best example is a Human dying, and whilst suffering Encroachment, discovers there Spiritual Power and Zanpakuto exactly when their chain is destroyed. This is impossible however, if one has already had the power of a Shinigami, or Hollow previously.
Appearance[]
The Shade appear generally as a Vizards Inner Hollow would, as a monotone version of there former self. However, this appearence is permanent, and they always visually appear this way. However, there are a few who retain a natural Human appearance. They do not have any masks, as a Hollow would, and do not wear a specific uniform, as a Shinigami would. However, like Hollows, they do have holes in various locations, and carry Zanpakuto just as Shinigami would.
Powers and Abilities[]
The Shade are unique in there abilities, and it depends upon there choice. They can choose whetherto develop the abilities of a Shinigami, or that of a Hollow, however, this choice affects how there Zanpakuto will form.
Zanpakuto[]
As stated above, a Shade Zanpakuto is formed depending upon the type of power they choose. If one were to choose the power of a Shinigami, and suppress the Hollow aspects of themselves, that suppressed power would form their Zanpakuto, and it would function like an Arrancar's. If they were to accept the power of a Hollow, there former self would be surpressed, and birth an inner spirit, which would become a Zanpakuto, that would function like a Shinigami's.
Factions[]
The Shade exist as two opposing Factions, that generally aren't friendly with each other.
Paladins[]
The Paladins consist of those who accepted Shinigami abilities, and suppressed there Hollow powers into a Zanpakuto.
Dark Knights[]
The Dark Knights consist of those who expelled their human side for Hollow Powers, and sealed there humanity into a Zanpakuto.
